Need sled pulling advice
I might pull this weekend for the first time. I have a few questions, but first I will tell you about my truck. 01 5 spd 126k edge comp/ stage 3 jammers AFE stage 1. I have 3.55's and axles are stock as is the turbo. I am going to be putting a new clutch in this week. It is a single disc from Val air, supposed to be good for 500/1000.
Now the questions, What gear, high or low, and can expect to break anything? Thanks for any help.

DO NOT try to sledpull on that clutch until it is properly broken in! And when you break it in do it easy. I broke mine in for 500 miles as easy as I could and now it holds like there is no tommorrow! Truly you *shouldn't* sledpull with a single disk but lots of people do, just don't get into a habit of it IMO unless you upgrade to a dual disk.

I most certainly am not going to make a habit out of it. I was just going to pull this time due to a edited by admin contest a friend and I have going on. Thanks for the advice.

I am sure that clutch will love that! Hey its good for 500/1000 it should hold right?
You'll be throwing away money pulling with a single disc. To come off the line correctly with a sled you need a multi disc clutch that can slip off of the line.

will his 24v even free rev to 4200???? LOL
i know i can pull to 3400 and it dies. but all i need is a 2500rpm 3rd gear 4x4 launch and its enough to put my head back against the head rest. its much faster than my 13sec lighting ever came off the line

The stock clutch is burned up. In 4th and 5th it would just blow the clutch out. If you tach it up the least little bit in 3rd it would just slip. I might not pull, cause I might not have it back together and any miles on it by then.

Honestly since I have the same exact clutch if you are just going to do it once or twice I don't see many problems with it. Well as long as it is broken in (300-500 miles atleast). I have dragged some HUGE trees across my property and done so doing launches like you would in sledpulling, since just working the throttle in 1st 4low it would sit and spin lol. Dan told me he is going to have a nice surprise in a month or so I think I'll be first I know to try it out!
