Need drive shaft advice
Need drive shaft advice
I have a 1992 3/4 Dodge extended cab that I am going to pull in the work stock class this summer. The rear drive shaft looks very small to me and also where the u joints attach to the differential yoke. I had a pulling valve body installed and I really want from the transmission back pretty much bullet proof. What do I need to do. Is it as simple as installing a shaft from a 1 ton with stronger u joints or do I need to have a shaft custom made? Any advise that you veterans can help me with in this regard will be very appreciated! Happy Independence Day. God bless our country!
I had a shaft made for mine after i mutilated my stock one (see my gallery for pics). They built it out of thicker walled tubing and i upgraded to the 1480 series yokes. Got several hooks on it so far and its great.
I got my driveshaft built at a place called Fleet Pride. Not sure if theyre just a local deal or a nationwide company, but they mostly deal with semis and big rigs. I had a little over $500 in mine by the time i got it out the door. That includes everything. Driveshaft, new carrier bearing, all ujoints and yokes, and the yoke for the rear end. The rear end yoke wasnt bad at all to put on, just a pain to get the old nut loose
