The weak point is the clutch, the internals are alot stronger as far as I know. Mine clutch was slipping when I put down the numbers that are in my sig, never sled pulled or drag raced but I have smoked the clutch a few times doing stupid things.

If I had to guess I'd say it's weaker than the nv5600. Not the internals but the case it's self. I know a few have been broken sled pulling, never seen pics of what actually broke though.

Aluminum can be stronger, it's all in how it's designed. Things that don't flex break and cast iron isn't very flexible. (works well for a transmission case, not so well for a suspension bridge)

I have put over 700hp down and sled pulled with a G56 all summer and haven't had a problem. It is down right now with more upgrades so I hope it will take more if not I guess I will have to make it take it.

Man I can't believe you haven't broke that thing. Everyone that I ever watched pull with a G56 that had any power broke it.

You should have no problems untill you get closer to the 800 900hp range and still then You'll be a ll right for awhile. By that time you usually need a triple disc clutch so thier goes the case.

g56

so is it the case that breaks most of the time???? does the nv5600 take more simply cause of the cast iron case? im wanting to be in the 700hp range, probably only pull 6 or 8 times a year.

I have 20 plus hooks on it with 35" BFG all terrrain and Nitto Mud Grappler and they hooked well and still is fine. Reverse is a little hard to get into sometimes you have to let the clutch in and out before it goes in but that isn't everytime.

P.S. I pulled in 2nd hi or 5th low all year.

2nd high for a g56 is just a tad bit taller then 4th low for a nv5600. 5th low is also a tad bit higher then 2nd high in a nv5600. What kind of distance did you usually pull? This will be my first year pulling with my new mods and think I should be in the 650hp range. For the first pull I'm gonna try 4th low maybe 2nd high. Won't go 5th low until I get the feel for it.
