Question exhaust manifolds..

I've heard some guys changing there 3rd gen manifold to a 2nd gen manifold. Anyone heard/done this? Just wondering if its a personal prefernce thing or if the 2nd gen flows better resulting in better performance? Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Thank ya.

interesting, never seen anyone do it yet. Would out the turbo up there easier to work on, but it would require a diff. downpipe. Dont see how it would really help much and prob. certainly not worth the additional cost for little or no improvment. IMO

Makes the truck sound more like a 24v instead of a Honda with a fart can muffler. It's needed to put twin turbos on a 3rd gen, and makes turbo easier to work on.

the 2nd gen manifold is 3 pieces, while the 3rd gen is 2 pieces.

all it does is move the turbo forward, to the middle of the manifold.

That's for an aftermarket manifold. The OEM manifold is a single/one piece.

Bolt pattern is identical between them all.

No performance or flow gains that I am aware of. It just makes mounting twins easier in a 3rd gen due to the manifold's smaller footprint.

I put the 2nd gen manifold on my 04.5 and absolutely loved it. If you have ever looked at a stock 3rd gen manifold the 4th cylinder would have to flow horrible. I noticed a increase in turbo spool, sounds better, and a 300* drop in egts.

If you want something that will flow more you should look into something like this:

What I found it on

No I do not make these, I just came across them at an off road expo and thought it was really cool.

Those pipes would surly crack over time on an offroad machine wearin twins. I already asked that question several times about the manifold.
