Cummins vs Viper
Cummins vs Viper
Searched for Gus Farmer and the li'l red Ram that dusted the Viper , found only one thread and several responses - who's got the deep skinny on that run - cameraman got tunnel-vision at the finish, so couldn't tell who took home the ticket - couldn't find much about the truck, driver, etc - typically, Viper owners\admirers say no way - Viper was 2.0 r\t, Ram 0.5 r\t on the boards - Viper jumped the Ram by est 0.5sec

vipers have always been overrated. the early vipers would only run mid 13s in the quarter. a stock LS1 camaro will do that. so will a stock 03/04 cobra even quicker. that big bad V-10 has always been a joke in my eyes when small V-8s will eat it that is sad. the newer vipers are fast but 80k. you could invest 10k in an 03/04 cobra and eat any viper there is.

I owned a 2003 Viper and it was a POS. Leaked water like crazy inside the car. Replaced the interior 3 times in 1 summer, tranny once & motor once all in less than 7K miles
Bought back under a program we have in Canada called CANVAP
It did attaract women like crazy though
I am now looking to BOMB my truck to 600+ and have a sports truck instead .....

I've seen many Viper vids of street Vipers doing less than 9sec 1/4's with much less spent on them than I have spent on my truck. Twin turbos, cam, blueprinted, built tranny, custom programming, suspension and drag slicks....sounds familiar. Go to youtube and search fastest viper....3 seconds faster than any streetable Cummins.

well ive never had the desire to own a viper. they are like a vette. talked up and there not fast. I had an 01 ford lightning that was stock. it would outrun a stock 2002 auto corvette at the time. there again I would rather have an LS1 camaro anyday over either one also. same powerplant as the 98-02corvette for half the price or less.
Vet's and Viper's stock are not dragsters. Never have been. They are good road course cars, when compare to a truck
. From what little I've seen of GT races the Viper's have a problem here as well, brakes. They are too light for the engine mass and heatup in a hurry.

the central texas diesel dyno day was at a place called ART - american racing technologies (i think) and they had some nice vipers......but you are probably thinking of hennessey......they are a big name w/ the viper scene

If you do the u-tube search you will find it is not Hennessey that makes a 1000+hp viper....any good Mopar race shop will do up a set of twins for about the same price as a set of any truck twins. Kerry
