Yeah I'm gonna put in some airbags in the rear so that should stiffen things up real good for the pulls and for when I pull the gooseneck. I'm not looking to be competitive nationwide, I just want to win the pulls in my county and be competitive in surrounding counties.

Yeah you really need to be in a higher gear I pull 3rd low and I am on the stock clutch and all I have is the juice. I would go with 4th low it shouldn't be a problem with your setup then I bet you can get that clutch to slip.
Also if your trying to get the clutch to slip in an open parking lot what gear are you using? Get in an open road or somewhere stick it in 3rd gear rev it up and start slipping the clutch by letting out on it real slow once you start building boost and it starts to grap let out of it.

you can slip the clutch easier if you use a higher gear... and then you will have wheel speed to boot. Thats what I see could be an improvement.

I think you need more fuel and air, and leave with more boost at the line, just my opinion. PourinDiesel is definately one of the best pullers I have seen out there; makes it look easy too, listen to what he has to say, just my opinion

Other than setting it up better, all I can see is that you definately need a higher gear. You have the power for it. Honestly, I dont know why you are worried about slipping the clutch. The less you have to slip it, the better in my opinion. But a higher gear will make you slip it more to get going. It will build boost as you come out on it. No need in holding it there trying to build a bunch.

Well before the pull, I asked around and basically everyone said to build up a bunch of boost before taking off, and to kind of roll into it... you know, like go a few feet without being fully engaged, just to get the sled moving, and THEN let the clutch out all of the way and take off. I just couldn't do it. I tried to build boost, tried to get a rolling start, but I ended up getting little boost (according to the Attitude monitor) and tires spinning, clutch fully engaged.

I'll try 4th gear next time and see how it goes. If you guys think I have the power for it, I'll give it a whirl.

Yeah you definitely have enough power for 4th low.

You obviously have some experience pullin' so I'd like to ask a question re: autos pulling. Do they pull on the low side and in tow? With an auto do they still try to launch at 20psi? Tks.

Low side Yes. I know the older trucks pulled with OD off so if tow is the equivalent then I would advise that.

As far as taking off with boost I think that could be better answered by Garrett Shields since he is pulling auto and has come along way with the way he launches....

From what I have been taught, put it in TOW/HAUL and in D - 4low. Build some boost and roll into it, once rolling then hammer down.
