12valve:

Jeff Garmon from "Garmon Diesel" located in Georgia ran a 47RE Dodge Tranny in his Dodge Dakota when he was running it a few years ago. You can find used Dodge 47RE Transmissions on E-Bay etc. for various prices. As I recall a "remanufactured/rebuilt" transmission like that straight from Dodge is around $2,800.00. Of course you will then have to spend around $4,000.00 or more to have it built like it should be for drag racing.

Yep - when I had the 47RE rebuilt in the '98 early last year, DC quoted almost $3K for a "new" unit, so I drove out to Sacremento for a custom "49RE" race-ready tranny that set me back $5K.

47RE is in your 98 12v!
Believe the 47RE started in 96.

12valve:

"rjohnson" is right. The 47RE is in your 98' 12 valve. From 1996 to sometime in 2003 to early 2004, Dodge installed the 47RE auto trannies in those trucks.
After that, the 48RE was released and is now found in all of the CR Trucks.
Prior to the 47RE, Dodge used the 47RH which does not have the electronic control like the 47RE.

Also, the later 47RE were "large case" units; the "small case" versions went up tp at least '99, IIRC.

Jeff Prince had the fastest stick for along time the old 5spd 12valve then converted it to an auto it was running 11s before the swap now hes running 10s but Banshee is the fastest i have heard of in along time with his 03 4wd 6spd hes running 12.56. I run between a 13.8 to 14.1 right now but will be going after banshees title in october or so alot more upgrades coming this summer. But an auto by far.

maybe u guys can explain something to me. in the diesel truck challenge there was an 05 crew cab and a 00 x-cab standard, the 00 had about 15 more horse's than the 05 but the 05 had 150 lb's of torque on him, if you look at there 1/4 mile time they are with in a couple of tenths of each other. if an auto is so much fast (which i agree) how come there times are so close together?
