I was curious about using line locks in these while raceing. Since im replaceing all my rusted out break lines I thought its a good time to put one in. Do many of you use them in standard trans equiped trucks?

Look guys I was just trying to hear what some experts like Banshee or John P would say about the 12.5 thing. . Sorry for the stir-up. I still think if I slapped some 33's on and put some serious time at the track with a 650+hp truck it's gonna happen. Heck even high 12's would be cool.

I am going to put a line lock on at least the front. Still thinking about the back. Put the button on the shifter. Would make boosted 4th gear launches easier IMHO. No more three footing it.

School me here, Johnboy & Captain-

If you run line lock, won't you need to release line lock to move from pre-stage to the stage beams? I thought that line lock worked off of residual pressure and needs ot be reset when moved?

A line looked when engaged holds pressure in the line after the brake pedal has been released. Residual as you said. Here is my plan. Roll into first beam Press brake pedal creep truck into second beam. Press brakes real hard engage line lock. The lock holds the brakes so now I can just work the throttle with my right foot. Bring the rpms up. As the lights start to go down slip the clutch to build desired boost. When the last light goes yellow release line lock. Away you go! I want to use it like a ghetto trans brake for manauls. I can three foot it but it is hard to get full brakes and the right rpms at the same time. It would make things easier.

What the quicckest ET in the 1/4 with a manual?

A friend told me of one who ran 12 flat launching in 3rd gear 4x4

At what rpm does a fast diesel with a built auto shift in a drag race?

thanks

12valve:

"cumminsdriver" is right, Jeff's truck was probably the fastest manual I had seen too. My son who goes by "banshee" on this site has gotten his 2004 Dodge CTD CR to run 12.68 @ 110 MPH with a 1.80 60 ft. time.

I'm still trying to figure out how there is enough time to hit the stage light, set the line lock, bring RPM up and then let the clutch out for 20psi before the lights come down. I have a hard time getting the correct boost while two footing it and it was brutal to 3 foot it. But, I'm sure if there's a way to do it, someone will!

Get into the lights first. That helps a ton. It is not easy. But anyone can just stomp the skinny pedal when the goes green.
