well i got my second hook this past weekend with a real sled on a real track and placed 4th out of 9 in the open diesel class with a 240'
1. dodge- 248'
2. dodge- 243'
3. ford- unsure
4. dodge- 240' (me)
5. dodge- 239'
ran the same gear with the TST turned up a little, smarty turned down a little and found out what its like to have a track bog ya down. it kept me down around 2900 rpms. none of that 4k stuff this time.
i'd post the video but my mother, sister, and girlfriend were talking so much and screaming so much when filming i'm embarrassed to put the video up LOL
i'll wait until someone with a better video can post it up.

I have a decent video of your pull. I don't know how to post it though.
PM me your e-mail or something and i'll send it to you.

Here you go TJ.
My camera stops recording sound at times, but overall it's an ok vid.

things break or a clutch goes up in smoke.
im sure pourindiesel can tell you that, i think he did it once.
and yes before the end of the season i will be hanging weights, but 3 of the pulls i am going to do not allow hanging weights.

you ever seen what happens when you run the bigger gear in a manual?
things break or a clutch goes up in smoke.

You have a dual disc, right? If so you should be plenty fine running a higher gear. Stuff is gonna break at some time or another no matter what gear you pull in. I have watched countless pulls. Running the highest gear you can without killing it out too soon is almost always your best bet.

its either 2nd gear high range which is a drive ratio of 3.38
or 4th gear low range which is a drive ratio of 3.78
if i tried 3rd gear high its 2.04, and 5th gear low is 2.72, both of which are way too big of a gear.
i know stuff is gonna break, but i am not gonna help speed the process by trying the big stupid gear. i dont have the money or unlimited clutch fund to run a big gear. as it is now, i'll be getting my DD rebuilt at the end of this pulling season.

i dont have that much fuel, sticks are only 200hp plus that silver bullet clears it up good. on the street it doesnt smoke once it lights.
im actually really happy with the way it runs, its burning the fuel i have and it drives great on the street everyday.
im gonna start building a pulling truck as soon as i can find a 2nd gen wrecked donor truck to piece back together.
