When will you guys be running at Bowling Green? Is that Beech Bend? If so I'm in Nashville and would definitely take a little drive up there to see this! Thanks - Max

Even Quicker!

The gang of diesel trucks invaded the track, Coastal Plains Raceway in J-ville NC, again tonight. I think we had 6 or 7 diesels running, several in the 13 second bracket. It was a little warmer and maybe a tad slicker than last week, but I was able to row the boat for a new best despite the lesser conditions! Best of all, thanks to Papa Smurf, we had a video camera rolling to record the all new best time... thanks for taping Chris!

The times came out to these:

60': 1.822
330': 5.311
1/8: 8.155
1/8: 86.99 MPH
1/4: 12.689
1/4: 109.56 MPH

The good run of the night, also caught on tape, was a 12.74 @ 107. I revved it a little too far in 5th on that one, so it hurt my back half times... could have been even better than the 12.68 because the 1/8 times were better... hafta try again next time

Hopefully Chris can post the video for everyone to see over the next few days!

All I can say is your the MAN I was there again to see history being made with a 6sp. The best one was when you lined up next to a tubbed 66 muskrat and beat it too. You ROCK

Hey, congrats to you on that 13.09... that's very impressive! Considering that's with just two boxes, a turbo, and a little bug juice... very sweet When you become a real druggie (N2O) like me the 12s are no problemo!

Again,........ I was there to see my Son better his previous times and get to 12.68 @ 109.56 MPH!! Johnner,......CONGRATULATIONS Buddy, I am proud of you! For those of you that asked about the video well hopefully "Papa Smurf" can get it up and running on here! I am glad I was there to see this run too. As Cris said,.........the "highlight" of the night was watching Johnner race that young girl in the 65'-66' Ford Mustang Fastback with a "dial in" of 13.0. Johnner dialed in a 12.60. She left the line first and the big black Dodge 2500 4-door Cummins Diesel SWB 4X4 6 speed ran that Mustang down and PASSED HER not far from the traps!! What a sight that was! Heck,....that girl still doesn't know what happened to her!!
Good job Buddy!

Congratulations guys!!!

Those are some great times. I just can't tell you how bad I wish I lived out that way to get in on the fun.

I can't wait to see the video.

I might be ordering my clutch pretty soon if I keep reading stuff like this.

As soon as I see the needle sweep past 3100 rpms I shift, but that time I was looking at a couple other gauges and it turned over to 3300-3400 and fell off. According to the dyno graph I hold power until 3200-3250.

Keegan,
If we can't get the video squared away I may give you a shout! If you wanna drive my clutch just let me know.

How about the 3 dodges on 24 that shook the ground for a smokey 1/8th mile...LOL. We (Me, Cris and Chris) lined up 3 wide at the high point furniture light on 24, when the light went green....the air turned black..The cars behind us didnt expect that i think. I am headed over to National Dodge to see if I can get a deal on the rims/tires and MP8 from that "other" truck!

CONGRATS BANSHEE!!!!!! You are the MAN!!! (still say you shoulda taken the track queen home!)

Warning: drage racin' is addictive stuff. Just one puff, and your hooked for life. There are studies that show the drag racin' type can be sober from the track for years and just drive by one, hear a race and want to enter the gate.

Don:

You are exactly right on your evaluation of this drag racing! And I can tell you without a doubt that our bunch down here have "got it bad!"

Good job on thoes times.

How well does your truck handle the 4-5 shift. I can pretty much keep my foot into it on all the other shifts but I have to let off the throttle completely and stick it into 5th slower the all my other shifts.

I think you can inprove alot by taking off your spare, going back to 265's and tail gate again. I have also been told that taking off you intake will net quicker times, just like the pro racers that have turbo's.

Building boost at the line will also help alot if you can get it to hook up. Do you have a LSD.

Thanks and good luck.

P.S dont get too caried away trying to get 11 in a 6 speed, a auto swap would put you there sooner and cheaper.

Something to consider about going to shorter tires is this.

The shorter tires will effectively give you shorter gears. Not that this is news.
But, this will probably make 2nd gear worthless. And, as you said third is really too steep.

My thoughts are this. You've found something that works for you and you should stick with it.

(But, the auto is not a bad idea, just pricey as heck)
