Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

I absolutely agree.

Up here, in the "hills" On a truck with one driver, dedicated to a certain haul, pulling super B fuel trains, it is not uncommon to see in excess of 300,000 MILES, not km, on the stock brakes.

Really good drivers, with good equipment, who care about what they do, make all the difference in the world in this case.

Now, fleet drivers, who drive like they don't own a bolt in it... Yeah, less than 50k km on a set of brakes, or lease ops pulling company trailers, trailer brakes GONE.

Seriously, its do-able. we have a couple trucks here, where the 1.1 million km inframe was done on the ISX, and the tranny was replaced, but the clutch was still good. You change it anyway, but it goes to show what the good old ( OLD) boys can do.

Think about it from a safety standpoint. He is right, if you can't stop the load you should not be moving it. It's not an issue of how easy they are to fix, it's an issue of safety.

Let me say this, a good driver will run a set of brakes a long time, a fleet griver, not so much.
Now since he was asking about tire wear, how about we go back to that?
