Do you think it will be covered under warranty even though it has been more than a year?

I would certainly hope so. I don't know a lot about welding but that is a straight split down the seam, and 50 psi is nothing for that piece. Good luck.

 

I am pretty sure they will stand behind that. You may have to pay for shipping and they may do a repair instead of replace, I don't know... but I am sure they won't leave you hanging.

 

BD will take care of you!!! Especially when you are running their twins.

 

They have been good in my dealings with their customer service as well...I'm sure they'll work with you.

 

Well, BD says fix it in my own or buy a new one. I think if I fix this crack the other welds will crack and it will be a constant issue. I am on the road moving my family cross country. I will hopefully get a better answer before I get sent overseas again this Spring.

 

I would cause a stink on that one. That is poor service. I would call them and talk to a manager and if that didnt work I would run it up the flag pole on every diesel site I could find. I am all about keeping little issues and problems quiet, but this is simply poor manufacturing/welding. The welds may look pretty but they didnt hold. I would be angry.

 

I am with Rye on this one.....Bad weld = crappy product + bad service = NO SALE........... They need to step up on this one.....

 

I'm no expert, but when you have a crack that follows a parting line it tells me that something wasn't done right. . I would think that if it was an overboost induced failure it wouldn't be at the weld

 

Oh and I forgot to add, on my grey truck I had a BD intercooler. It saw no less than 65-75 psi on a daily basis for over two years. Everyone builds a not so perfect product sometimes we are human, so they should man up and fix it at no charge to you.

 

Not the first time this year hearing negative comments from customers who have bought BD products then have problems---BD SHORT SHIFT ring a bell.Come one BD,stand behind your product/customers and quit giving customers the run around.I have thousands of $$$ in BD product on one ride and was probable thinking of adding more to the second ride--------"MAY BE NOT".

 

Right which is why I said something here That is the wrong place for it to fail unless there was a flaw in the production...it happens... how deal with it as a Vendor is what makes the difference

 

Hopefully Monday when I call back I will get a better answer but I am not holding my breath.

I bought BD twins, inter-cooler, exhaust brake, exhaust all at one time. I had to change the exhaust hangars to get the exhaust to mount, the brake has never worked very well as compared to other brands in my buddies trucks, the twins have always had a leak at the clamp regardless of how many I have tried. Now the inter-cooler brakes!

I tried getting BD help with the exhaust leak at the turbo but that didn't work in my favor so I expect the inter-cooler will not end well for me. I don't plan on chasing welds all over this inter-cooler so I will be looking for a different brand. Any suggestions?

HTT would be my suggestion. Look at Banks, HTT, Spearco....

 

Hellman's another good one from the reviews,BD was my first choice/Canadian but after the way they are handling this probable buy a Hellman now or someone else's.
