Most built race transmissions are built with RE48 parts except for the valve body. The PCM is different. Luke, if you want a transmission you might have to put in a RH48 not a RE. The RH is the mechanical type and the RE is computer. It would take some work to get all of the small pieces to get everything to work right. My Neighbor (the guy you visited last time you cam to see me) might have his truck for sale. Its a high mileage 98 auto 3/4. It has 600k on it and has the original automatic in it. I almost fell over, he's towed for most of the trucks life. I'm trying to get him to part it out but knowing my luck its an 53 block.

I didn't think theres was a 48 RH....only RE's. But if I can get all the billet carp for a 47 maybe I can find a standalone controller for an easy swap. I know ATS makes one for the 48RE.......maybe the 47 too. I'm not sure yet. maybe a **** manual valvebody..........does anyone offer a full manual valvebody. I could go with that too. I'm down with lazy man shifting........this SBC DD on the stock clutch is heaaaavy on the leg in stop and go traffic

Slightly off topic, but if you convert your truck to auto, let me know about your clutch/tranny/t-case. That would sure help in putting a 4bta in my sisters truck.

Does NADP build a tranny that can hold 700hp but not shift so hard like Kevin's??

Jamie, mine dosent shift too bad, on the dyno it shifts harder than on the street.. but if it didnt I would be worried, it has to shift hard to hold the hp. You should have seen some of the manual valve bodies I had on some of the small blocks I used to run

I think harsh shifting is a function of holding power............ don't you need the line pressure to the clutch packs for holding power and less slippage between shifts

You have to lighten up your truck a ton to use it. It would be a bomb and you would have to put a scatter shield over the transmission. Once you get over that, you can do it. There some very light trucks using the tranny brake but they don't last too long. If you can hold a 25 to 30 psi launch, your smoken your 60ft. Too bad thats hard on input shafts. Luke if you built a small race truck it would work but there alot more power there a most guys think, most race diesel trucks make power at levels where most prostock guys are at. How many race engine make 2000 ft*lbs and 1200 horsepower at the wheels?

How does the truck run?

Oh you're probably right, I was just horny about a trans brake...........no biggie.

No running truck yet. was going to put the head on the other day and found a sweet little ding in the new headgasket fire ring of #5.......so waiting on gasket exchange.... and new ATS manifold and new tires.........and HD pushrods and rocker studs.

I move to Okotoks in 3 days........I'm not in a big rush about it till after that.
