I bought my GT37 and GT42 from Tom at Turbo Resource in Arizona. I bought my GTX42 from Jose at Forced Inductions in Alabama. When I talked to Alamo, they wanted 50%+ for these turbos, and did not keep them in stock. My GT42 was 8 weeks out, Tom had it in stock and sent out the day after I ordered.

If you get a ball bearing turbo, they are considered non-serviceable, and is on an exchange program for replacement.

Thanks for the info Tate!

I'll give T resource a shout in the morning and hopefully they have the goods I'd like. I just sold my Sled so the moneys burning a hole in my pocket. Nothing better than upgraded speed parts for the Ram!

Everything I googled led to one or two suppliers. Both you mentioned outta the states.

What are you looking for exactly? Tom seems to have better prices, but Jose has some really cool stuff. I've got a GT55R with a GTX style wheel in it on order. I'm looking forward to that one coming.

I was looking at their 3788R turbo. I think it's also listed as their stage 3 turbo. I eventually wanna go the way of the twins route with other upgrades and thought the 3788 would be a good and easy upgrade for the time being. I'm open to all opinions and experience with the 5.9.

Thx

Talk to Mike Holmen on here, he is in Airdrie, and just sold a GT3788r as part of a customers twins setup. He gets decent pricing and is local.

Called Tom at turbo resource, the guy definitely knows turbos. He didn't have anything in stock but is putting some stuff together and will get back to me in a week or so.

I'll let u guys know what he comes up with. I had chatted with mike H and I'm sure it'll be close if not bang on to his recommendations.

I'll check tomorrow, I think that we have inventory on the stage 3. You want a complete kit or just the turbo? Let me know, just buying a few turbos right now. Ordering a GT55 and some turbonetic stuff. Just bought a stage 3 about a month ago, got the best price right here in town. I phoned around, no one had inventory. To bad the borg warner EFR stuff has been delayed, there are a few decent buys there as well. Been wanting to buy a EFR 9180 for my 2010 truck.

Well, I was going to buy just the stage 3 and shelf it till I get another turbo, cam and nozzles to compliment a twins setup. I had a few bucks now so thought I could get started on buying the goods. Tom figured that with my mostly stock setup a stage3 would cause too much surging and basically wouldn't work till I managed to get around to the injectors and cam upgrades. It would be hard to look at a new turbo crated on the garage shelf but it would motivate me to get the rest of the parts!

You buying a 3rd gen GT37 or a 2nd gen GT37? They have different compressor covers.

I've been run a GT turbo for four/five years on my 02. They work nice either as a single or in twins. Configured in twins, they seem not to surge as much.

Tom didn't say which gen. I just told him I was interested in buying a stage3 for my 05 5.9 and left it at that.. He said it would probably just surge too much. If the one you're running works I'd be willing to give it a shot

I'm not running a stage 3 turbo. Have in the pasted in twins. I liked it, liked it alot, seemed to have lots of air, helped to keep egt's in check. Not going to lie, they do bark, but so do the S300's turbos. I have one on my truck for about two years and about 100000km's. Its still in almost as new condition. I can hear it spooling even when the truck is just turned off. I count how many seconds its spools for. Probably get 6-8 seconds.

I just find that they spool better than a similar size S300, which is most of the battle of making power without excessive smoke levels.

How hard does your truck engage going from 3rd to 4th? Depends lots on the converter, on how the turbo barks. Some converters lock-up pretty hard. Mine shifts pretty decently, so my turbo doesn't bark unless I'm dumping the off throttle. Manuals are the worst on the turbos for barking.

I know Kenny had some surging issues on his 24v with the 3788, a common rail would make it much worse since they spool turbo better. If you're looking at running a single, especially on a near stock setup, you might look at the 3782 instead. Should surge less.
