Careful on the auto trannies, you may still end up with one of those...

I am really surprised you didn't put nitrous in that list, after all it wouldn't be a night at ASW if Mike didn't ask you when you are going to put some spray on your truck.

I'll put spray on my truck after Mike puts it on his. I think I'll be safe for quite a while.

LOL...

I must admit that I ran into a 2010 Dodge dually 2wd in a Saskatchewan campground last week with a "claimed built" 68RFE 6 speed auto..
Friendly older guy from Arizona, huge 5th wheel, straight pipe, deleted truck.

We started yakking & he took me for a ride & that auto trans is very sweet.

I'm keeping my truck forever so maybe one day when I'm really old & the aftermarket catches up with that trans it may find a home in my truck.

It would be the 2nd auto trans that I've ever owned..

I still think that whoever comes up with standalone electronics for that trans there will be a stampede to swap out the older 4 speed auto's.
I have read that Suncoast in Florida has done the swap out with a 48RE but it was not simple nor pretty electronically.

I though you might say that! I'll just add it to my 2010 dually axle sitting in storage!

I found more info on the 5.9L/68RFE swap. Not sure how accurate it is:

"Suncoast put one in a 2000 24v truck and a 12v. And it works great, but they are not for high hp, 400hp or less. They used the stock TCM as the stand alone, but can't tune it because it will not talk to the 5.9 ecm."

It might be years before they figure out how to make the 68RFE strong enough anyway.

For me it is besides the minivan. I have had sticks in all my CTD's until the 08. It is still pretty fun for me to drive.

I was trying to get Tate to slip that electronic TCase in his truck, didn't fly.

So far I've been really enjoying the RFE68. There are companies out there making a stronger RFE68, I think the strongest truck is around 800-900rwhp. Just built RFE68 aren't shallow wallets. I'll saving up for one for my 2010 truck. With the new 8 speed coming out, hard to say whats going to happen. Kinda wish mother mopar would step-up and offer a stand alone RFE68. Probably sell decently.

Joe, for towing the RFE68 in tow/haul mode is beautiful. I just touch the brake the exhaust brake does the braking. I push abit hard on the brake pedal the computer shiftdown automatically. I push really hard on the brake I get maximum exhaust braking. I hardly use my brakes anymore towing. H&S overdrive for the 4th gen has fixed alot of the hunting 5-6-5 gear shuffle.

My buddy pulls a slightly lighter but comparable 5th wheel with his RFE68 compared to my pacbrake. The stock transmission holds hills as well or possibly even better than my exhaust brake when I follow him down a grade. I agree that tow/haul mode is really nice.

Been curious if you could get the newer truck exhaust brake controller to work with the pac-brake, as I really really want to get rid of the stock HE351VGT turbo. So tired of the stock boring 6.7L turbo.

Darrell, your new turbos will out spool/perform any stock dodge turbo, I will guarantee it. You'll be impressed. Probably out perform anyone twins set-up out there on the market. You'll be around 50-60psi when before you were around 30psi.

Its the perfect mix of fast spooling/decent top end power. That easy to adjustable with an in-cab controller, just so you can get everything to run the way you want it to. I'm going to run an electronic controller on mine this fall.
