Dave, I added this muffler to my exhaust when I installed the exhaust brake.

http://dieselpowerproducts.com/catal...-Mufflers.html

It's cheap, T304 S.S. & straight thru free flowing. Plus Diesel Power products (Bryan) is a good, small 1 man shop in Spokane. Similar to Peak (Harry in B.C.).
I bought a bunch of stuff in one order from him last year when the dollar was at par.

I dumped my stock muffler with a free flowing MBRP muffler long ago. The Cat was still in place but I had some drone towing our smaller trailer.
Then I cut off the cat which nearly caused a divorce & sounded like crap to my ears.

Then when I installed the BD in-line exhaust brake, I re-installed the cat & added the DPP muffler in the link above. I still have the MBRP muffler installed.
Now it sounds great & no drone when towing our trailer. Plus wifey is happy.
Since I have two 4 inch free flowing mufflers in line, I imagine it's like having 1 large Donaldson muffler. It's very quiet but fairly free flowing other than the cat.

Note that mine is a common rail. They just don't sound nearly as good as the 12V trucks.
A 2nd small straight thru muffler/resonator is likely all you need to quiet things down some more but still free flowing.

...Joe

Yes, Public Disturbance no kidding that would be Matt. He changed his decals. His lovely wife will be driving the truck at the Castrol shootout this weekend....

I had a 4in magnaflow exhaust on mine. Last night I dumped the magnaflow muffler, my egt has dropped and the turbo seems to spool faster. Man the truck sounds mean. I had to laugh as I made a hard pull thru downtown Calgary this morning. I think I made everyone look at the crazy diesel truck. I might be getting to old, but its too loud, I'm going back to my single 5in rear exit. The engine sounds good, but sometime you need to listen the radio.

I don't know how you guys can drive the truck for 12 to 16hrs a day with those noisy pipes just by your ears.

That's definetly the truck. I'm glad I wasn't in my truck or it could of been a gong show. Two guys with stacks blowing around Red Deer. Last thing we need. By the way I hate to say it but I simply love my stacks, no more soot on the bumper!!! I run a 5" magnaflow and it's fairly mellow compared to the old straight pipe. I guess I'm getting old too!!!!

....so you haven't been stacked long enough to shower your whole truck with black water upon fire up after a good rain then.

I always wondered if water collected in there and what happened to it.
