Third gen--need your input!

Work requires me to get into a new-to-me truck, and Morkable keeps tellin' me to get with the times, park the 12valve and get a 3rd.gen.!!!LOL

I'm looking at an '08 3500 dually,4x4, 6spd manual with 92K kms, all stock except for a K&N intake. It'll need rubber and with that mileage i'm hoping he'll drop his price a couple grand cause its got the original ball joints/tie-rods.

Anything you guys/girls can think of that i should be looking for, or any known issues with the 08's that you can think of, suggestions??

Thanks, much appreciated!

Have been thinking about this a bit myself. Depending on year, injectors seem to be a bit of an issue. The replacements are pretty $$.

Dan where is it located at? If it is around here I can take a look at it with you if you would like,,,, the 6.7 is really good, no major problems with it other than the DPF crap. I have a Dr P for it too,, and if you need I can get you a smarty too.

Hey Kev, i forgot to mention that i was gonna see if you had programmer stuff for it. The truck is on the sunshine coast and looking at it on monday, its registered in BC which doesn't really matter for me, but convenient to get back to the Mac next week. The guy works in Alberta, commutes and did buy it at "Londonderry" in Edmonton, so i gotta look into warranty options for it also.

On a side note, it does not have heated seats, anyone know if the harness in the cab has the plug on it if i find heated seats and swap em' in??

You dont need to find heated seats Dan - these start at about $100 - cheaper than buying seats.

If you're looking for stock tires, got 5 new bfg 265/70R17E rugged trail for sale.
Don't know about other earlier trucks but like the 6.7.

The '08 is a private deal, 90K kms, he just dropped his price to 32K says he needs the money, having a kid...blah,blah... If its decent, i'm thiking i'll offer 28K and see what/if any part of the warranty is transferable.

Do the new 6.7's need a "fass" system, or are the cp3's reliable enough? I've got free fuel from site worked into my contract, so i'm thinking i'd protect myself a little with the extra filtration cause you never know. Thoughts??

I've got over 142 K on my truck with the stock filtration and stock pump. 07 6.7 Long Bed Mega Cab 4x4 3500 dually auto. However, the upgrade kit for the filter that does 2 micron just came in on Friday so I am picking that up on Monday. I am on the fence about doing an upgraded fuel system because I am also on the fence about selling MEGA Mega.

The remainder of the drivetrain warranty 'should' go with the truck.

Dan, you dont "need" the fass or air dog, but wouldnt be a bad idea with the fuel thing... get, as mentioned by Scotty, the 2 micron filters. The Cp3's are extremely reliable, you will probably never every have to replace them unless you are going to really hot rod the truck. 32k is a decent price for a loaded up 08. 30k would be a very good price

I have a common rail newbie question? So what kills the CR injectors so fast? Is the extra duration added to the firing event or poor fuel.
