Temp's for trans

So i was driving back from brooks on fri, everything is good except when i got back to Lethbridge i noticed my trans temp climbing. Usually it runs around 155-173F, constantly 166 ish on highway, now it going over 185F and im sure if i kept driving it would climb over 200. Fluid level is good, even yesterday i drove across town and back "light driving" it climbed over 185 again. i havnt seen 185 unless im towing or doing doughnuts lol. Should i be worried, the oil has been in there only a month or so.

Check the gauge sender,i have replaced a few of my Autometer ones ,they tend to last only a couple of years, the older style senders seem to last longer than their newer ones that come with electronic type gauges(Ultra Lite II)

Thats the thing , im reading temps off my bully dog plugged into the obd port. I just took it for a rip around the block and im getting the 1-2-1-2 again, im soo sick of this trans. If i had the money id be buying a good one, i guess ill change the solenoid and adjust the bands again it helped out last time. That was a year ago too, ill update after i get back from the trailer show downtown.

Did you use the GM governor solenoid last time? I'm curious to find out just how often we need to change these things!

Yeah, I remember your posts about that, seemed like it was not long ago. That's not good at all, that the solenoid has crapped out so soon....

Those temps are way out of line.
Did you change filter also?

I'm not a big fan of ATS trannys. Just heard too many problems and not great longevety.
Sorry your having problems. Doubt it's the GM Gov. Solenoid Conversion.

How much clutch material on the filter? Any aluminum material (shiny silver stuff). Worst case is you change your tranny oil abit more often. Really, your temp isn't that high, to cause damage to the tranny. I would feel the tranny cooler and see if its hot. One of those fancy IR heat guns works nice to see the actual temperature of the fluid.

You did replace the cooler after your leakage issue that you had around christmas? Maybe you have some air blockage in front of the cooler? I dumped my stock cooler for a 1/2in NPT twin electric fan unit. Mine runs around 150 deg's F. Towing I'm about 180 deg's. The ATF+ is a semi synthic fluid so it can take some heat.

that's what i was thinking "air blockage" im currently driving on the hwy to brooks and temp is at 167f which is normal. but when im in town she climbs up past 180f. is it possible that its partialy blocked and at lower speeds it wont circulate the oil.

How did you fix the cooler? Dumb question, but how do you check for fluid level inside the transmission? The trick is to make sure that its operating at normal operating temperature of 140-160 deg's F.

The 1-2-1-2 shifting is odd, have you done recently anything to the valve body? Kinda hard to troubleshoot from a keyboard, 300 miles away.

If you start running above the 220 deg's F, I would worry. 250 deg's F is high enough to start cooking the oil. 300 deg's your tranny is death's door. I have never seen above 200 deg's with my DTT tranny. Usually, I get that when I have just pulled my RV for 14-16 hrs, and I'm backing into the purfect camping spot. Reverse/forward just cooks the heck out of the tranny oil

Sorry for the late response, i just spent 5 days in the hospital with my lill boy. He had gotten reall sick but is now back home a doing well. So i had buddy bring over a cooler from his parts truck, and replaced it. I should have had it pressure tested im guessing, or atleast checked to see if it was clear. The oil i checked in nuetral at 165f, oil did not smell burnt and was at the hot level. The 1-2-1-2 has disappeared for now, but i havnt really drove the truck because of being in the hospital. Im trying to get a different cooler from a guy as we speak.

As a parent I can't imagine anything worse, here's hoping your son has a continued speedy recovery.

^^^Thanks he's doing great, at home back to mischeif again. lol.

So took the truck out and had these codes pop up,

P 1740:-Tcc Od solenoid performance.
P 0702:-Output speed sensor circuit.

I knew the Tcc one would show up, but where exactly is the speed sensor circuit and is it easy to change?. Got new B@M cooler on the way.
