Supersprings??

Gents,

Has anyone tried the Supersprings for rear leaf springs? http://supersprings.com/supersprings...ew_general.asp

I want to lower my 2wd 3rd Gen more while still be able to tow our 5th wheel which puts close to 1800 lbs of pin weight on it.
I do have Pacbrake airbags on the rear but in a 3rd Gen they mount between the axle & the frame so you can only go so low. Plus they raise the rear of the truck even at 5psi which I hate.
The Supersprings would appear to allow some adjustment and help with spring wrap. I could then even install some cut down Timbrens in place of the air bags.

The front and rear springs have always been too soft in my truck & my Monroe Gas Magnum shocks are toast.

I'm also thinking the HD Superspring front coils, cut down to lower the front truck another 1/2" for an inch lower in total up front.
Plus new Bilstein shocks all around.

It will likely ride very rough but can't be worse than my Mustang...
I want it low & solid.
In my previous trucks I always would add a leaf and have the entire spring pack re-arched to lower the ride height.
This process is extremely time consuming to get the final ride height correct.
Since my rear leaf pack is practically flat I don't think this option will work.

Thanks for any thoughts...Joe

hey joe -

i have no firsthand experience with those products, and i have not heard any good or bad them as well. sorry i can't help that way.

BUT . . . you may want to check these out.
http://www.otto-max.com/super-heavy-duty-coils.html

i believe their products can be found here:
http://www.customsuspension.com/store/
i bought my levelling coils thru the second link. they are the HD coils and they ride great. the truck is rough, but no rougher than stock with the added benfit of less body roll/diving when cornering/braking.

it's worth a phone call to them anyway. and i'm sure they could set you up with WHATEVER kind of leafpacks you want in the rear. the prices were good, they know what they are talking about and they are right next door in B.C.

Joe, I would make a custom mount for your air bags. Just put them behind the axle (to help with wrap) and then remove a couple leafs. You will have the best of all worlds then, smooth ride, lots of carrying capcity, and lower.

Thanks for the link Jason...

It turns out that company makes the coil springs (Supercoils) for Supersprings.
The HD front Supercoils (3900lbs) cut down to my desired ride height (1" lower than stock) should work.

Kevin, I totally agree that your suggestion would be best. I was even considering installing/modifying a 2nd Gen set of rear air bags.
The 2nd Gen air bags mount outside of the frame on top of the leaf springs.
Another option I'm considering is installing the 3500 overload leaf packs.
I would have to drill the frame for the frame brackets so no going back after that. I could use various thickness of the frame bracket bushings to adjust the gap & control movement.

It turns out the 20inch wheels I wanted & that had the correct backspacing are no longer made.
I was planning to mock up the suspension, wheels & tires all at the same time to confirm the fitment and get the stance I want...
Now I need to find some different wheels... frig...

I still have to install my clutch, plus some engine upgrades are on the way...
