Steering colume bushing
Steering colume bushing
I already posted this on AB...I got the bushing from David and I would say this upgrade is well worth it.Can't beleive how well my truck handles now..No more clunks in the colume and no more steering kick going over speed bumps and holes...Sure it doesn't look like much for $70 but its't worth it...
I did it on mine as well. Couldn't really tell how much of a difference it made by itself as I replaced the steering box, intermediate shaft and it all at the same time. But I would do it again. Not so much fun to install-on a truck with 4 wheel ABS there's a lot of extra stuff in the way of the column. IIRC I cut the spring clip with a sidecutter? Been long enough now that I can't recall for sure-but I think that was the method of removal.

I used the die grinder on the spring clip...That was the easy part... Little more work getting the plastic cup off and I didn't even get all of it...But that was ok because when I sitted the bushing it didn't come close to touching the plastic cap that I left behind....Used a screw driver on the plastic bearing and it was a bit of a pain but I finally dug it out..
Dave, where did you get the part from? I broke down and bought a rebuilt steering gearbox from NAPA. There almost no road feel. Its tight feeling, but I like abit more road feel. I guess next rebuild I get a better box. It was good chatting with you the other day. At least you're getting to put some miles on that sweet ride of you're.
