Hey Joe,
I have been involved in these 2 threads over on CF as I have had issues with its randomly shutting down but will fire right back up sometimes without haveing to even turn the key again.
My list of things I have tried is post 11
http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3r...shuts-off.html

This is the other one
http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3r...lling-out.html

I have other issues not listed in those they are:
Intermitent smoke on start up cold or hot with tested injectors as well as a different injectors out of a good test truck.
Erratic rail pressure sometimes as much as 4k psi swings

The truck has no blow by and runs great just these odd problems that drive me nuts as I am a perfectionist

The ECM currently on my truck has a part # of P4931975.

When I called cummins they mentioned that their records indicate that the Part# should be P4937149

Not sure if this can cause any issues...

Have been doing a lot more digging into the Part# issue and have not found a whole lot just yet.

http://www.injectorwarehouse.com/die...R5191829AA.htm

The link states that the part# of my ecm should be for an 03-05 does not mention anything about an 06.

also checked my uncles truck (06 cummins same options package and all) his part # is P4937140 which is closer to the part# that cummins says I should have had when the motor left their factory...

Well I haven't read those links, but there is no way that you have an 03-05 ECM as those trucks are SCI and the 2006+ trucks are Can Bus.
The ECM's are not interchangeable without major harness mods...

As for the p/n's, your original ECM p/n may sub to a new p/n.
If you are still concerned perhaps call Chrysler to say what they say about ECM p/n's. There may be a Chrysler p/n on your ECM.

Are you getting any check engine lights or stored codes? If you are not, I would venture that your ECM is fine.
Especially if it reflashes fine with your Smarty.

Thats what I was thinking is that there is no way that an 05 would work on the 06.

It just seems very odd that when talking to Cummins, my truck has an older ECM then what Cummins sent it out their door with.

All the part #'s on the ECM are Cummins numbers as I talked to Chrysler and they could not find anything in their system. The Chrysler part # is R5179027AA which I cant find on the ECM.

P4937149 is updated compared to P4931975

I randomly get a P2509 1 in every 20 shut down's. I think I will have to start going over every wiring harness and check for breaks and or corrosion..

this truck has had a very odd past so it is proving to be a challenge.
