some pics of the new motor and turbos
Nice buddy, no tip toeing around
just gonna blast thru that 9's barrier. I can see the need for both gates, then. It will limit how much boost that the twins will deliver, after that its all in the bottle.
It might be easier on parts that way.

Well sorry buddy. I really am then. What happened other than new was required??
GP was the same time I started the Shell Upgrader Turnaround at 16hrs/day - I wasn't online for over a month.

Well, once the new shack is built, I'll have even a bigger garage to work on stuff in Fort Sask. and the rest of he 0.36 acres in the city limits to park crate deliveries.

specs
Yeah, Mike I saw the specs on the standard s474 and saw the 88mm turbine exducer. Thats is why I'm real curious to see what I was actually sent.
The vendor said its 74mm in, 74 out. I read after, that those numbers are like a more expensive s474SX.
And while I got you on the line.... I've got a wastegate here that supposedly has an 11 pound spring in it. I can push with all my thumbs strength on the valve and it won't open. It will open if I put it on the floor and push gently with the back of a hammer handle.
This seems way more than 11 pounds.. How many pounds is your WG spring and can you manually open it?
Can you open yours in the past Brett?

Most people use an adjustable air pressure control valve (you can find that any industrial supply house) to control the pop off pressure. I bought an adjustable valve and pressure guage for mine. Then you just add that pressure to the 6 psi spring. That springs are typically 6-12 psi or so will be opening pressure.
Just hook-up to an adjustable pressure source and set your static pressure. Of course there effects other than pressure, but that's the biggest factor.

So in order to have my gate open at 28lbs I have to apply 39 pounds (my 11lb spring + 28) on the bottom port? It seemed like that diaphram was paper thin and wouldn't hold that much pressure. Maybe it's really tough stuff?
Seemed to be a good gate too. 250 $ PIT wastegate.

I would run at a lower intial pressure. How big is the flapper on the turbo? I like to start around 20-24psi and fully open at 32-40psi, depending on power levels (aka fuel availablity). Drive pressure will cause the flapper to open early, so don't go to far. Also you need enough valve seat pressure to seat the wategate. The flapper has to seal, any leakage will not help spool-up. Driving around town you can figure that stuff out. Is this on a S300 series turbo?
