Jason, I would be worried about the lenght of that warranty. Also I would not buy the laminate flex plate. If you suddenly change your mind and want to go racing, they are not SFI compliant. Go with a good billet unit with SFI certs. Always best to do it right off the bat. I also recommend spending the extra and do all the billet shafts right off the bat. If a intermediate shaft goes it causes big damage,,

My last transmission failure The input shaft spline was twisted and intermediate shaft broke in half. Both where billet pieces. When the intermediate shaft broke, the main transmission casing split in half. The only part that was reused was the OD unit. I second the idea of running a billet flex plate. They aren't priced to crazy. Fred was treated pretty decently on his transmission failure from Georend.

ahh ****! i already ordered the shafts and plate from source automotive. i asked them about the flexplate and they said they would take care of me if it let go - what that means, i'm not sure - but they have a heck of a reputation to hold up . . . so i'm not too worried.

if i ever decide to race the truck, then by that time it will need a rebuild anyway, and the shaft and plate would be upgraded at that time . . .

i am only supplying Excell with the two shafts and a flexplate. everything else will be done in house, or supplied by their regular supplier. call me crazy, but i am going on my 'gut instinct' with this build in deciding on what to use and where to get it done.

it's too late on the flexplate to change my mind, but the shaft can still be added . . . it's a $900 dollar touch though - think it's worth it for my (someday) 500hp truck?

Cool stuff buddy. I do have a brand new set of dynomite 150's or twin turbo stuff just laying around in my garage. Heck its too funny I have three engines inside my chaos shop. Might have to get a ride from you one day and see how everything works out. You ever get that fueling box figured out, I do have a set of mach 6's that make decent power, but break stuff

i'm gonna have some mach 2's on the way (105hp) - but i may ask you about a twin build-up after that!

the box situation is all sorted out, they will be shipped to me via USPS.

If you don't tow heavy the Mach 4's are even better than my 2"SCruising with the supporting mods SEE SIG 750F(pre-highway).i like em and smooth idle for 150's

once in a blue moon - and probably only when lines up with someone else . . .

i think i am going to have rip from source automotive send me up a IE intermediate shaft. like you said kevin - do it right the first time.
not going to be changing my mind on the flexplate though - Opie won't warranty his shafts when used with a billet plate.

i still have a tiny little stock turbo . . . i'll feel a little more comfortable with the mach 2's instead.

well just heard it from Opie himself over on CF - he has no problems with the billet plates as long as they are not solid and still have holes machined in them to allow for flex . . .

If there wasn't miss-information on CF there would be no information at all.

I thought the holes in the flex plate where for balancing. Most are pretty beefy aluminum forged pieces. You have to watch as there are a few differences at the hub that might have to be machined into the flexplate. I had a lip on my flex plate, that wouldn't let the plate fully seat onto the crank. I found that out after installing my transmission for the third time as I had a very tight fit with my converter to flexplate. You need at least 1/4in of clearance between the two, for heat growth. The triple disk converter is quite abit bigger than the stocker piece. You can see the differences pretty easily once they sit side by side.

I'm still running hard at 480HP and 1025FTLBS with my Excell built. The only things that have went wrong were 2 selenoids from Dodge. We upgraded to the GM selenoid and that fixed mine up. I have a weird shift going on but that's a 06-07 issue but Dave and his Goerend guys are working on something for Mel to try. Besides those small things, this tranny is crazy!!!

Goerend has the best warranty EVER but Mel has built all my stuff and can fix it ASAP vs waiting and shipping and...... If we lived in or near St. Lucas Iowa, it would be Goerend all day and night but we live in the newest wind province of Alberta. Doj Dewd, you will very happy. I went FULL billit just so I didn't have to do it twice...
