Got the wheel alignment I wanted

I got Kal-tire to do a wheel alignment to specs found in the below website.I would recommend these specs...This alignment thighten up the frontend so much.I also added the steering bushing and the '03 retro fit track bar before the aligment.Kal tire had to install the caster shim and bushing kit.It was worth it.

This is my alignement specs before:

Good going buddy. Which kal tire did the work? I want to get mine re-checked after I drive over a few bumps. I have to see if this stuff works.

I had mine aligned to these specs about 2 years ago and it still tracks like the day it was done.

I had it to a couple of shops that said they would only do it to factory specs and it's amazing how they will back peddle when your heading for the door.

Kal Tire in Cochrane did mine but they don't have a mechanic now so the rack is just a storage unit now.

there really isnt a difference in the two spec sheets! Only big difference is in the toe and that doesnt cause a pull. Any alignment shop can set to any specs but alot of them dont want to or they dont know how to. An from looking at the two sheets the old specs look better!

Diesel Dave, I have a 2500 98.5 24 valve and installed the steering stabilizer from DSS. My steering still has a lot of play in it and the truck still wander alot. I did not go for the alignment yet. In your original post you mentioned that you installed a steering bushing, is that the same as the steering stabilizer?

Where is the wear at? Have you wiggled back and forth the pitman arm to see movement is from gearbox? I hold the steering shaft and move the pitman back and forth. There shouldn't be any movement. If you have some you can adjust it out some what by tighting up the rack preload. If you have a bad bearing, you need a new gearbox. Have you upgraded the trackbar? What condition is you're front hubs in? Tie rod ends? Bushings. Jack up the front end and get a buddy wiggle the steering wheel. Look for loose movement at these spots. I just rebuilt mine. Mine front end was completely toasted. It must be the fine roads we have here in Alberta.

Never mind, I did some looking and found the answer. I guess I should have the track looked at or get an alignment or both to see what the problem is.

Mike, thanks for the quick reply. I did not upgrade to the 03 trackbar yet. I'll check everything else this weekend and let you know if I find anything.

Dave, I was talking to Russ at DSS, he told me to put my truck at 4.5 degs of caster and the toe in to -0.125 deg's. I'm gonna see if I can get mine to those specs and see what happens. I'm also going to phone around tomorrow and see what the other shops do to dial these truck in. PSC no longer builds firm feel gearboxs. Too many warranty claims, not enough $$$
