I didn't read all the responses so if its repeated sorry.

to chekc the 53 block. pop a frost plug on the pass side. mic the wall thickness at the bottom of the hole. if its .125" (or .250" I can't remember off the top of my head) or better you do not have core shift on the block casting. and you're good. if its thinner. you have excessive core shift and the block will fail sooner of later.

I got mine from Napa when I did my cam swap. It doesn't look like the one you posted. My steering wheel puller looks like that, which I use for pulling IP gears.

You can borrow it if you need to. Let me know, its in the back seat of my dually somewhere, probably beneath the toaster oven.

Roxxx, just thinking here abit about your engine? Was the crank or harmonic balancer damaged in the head on? I would also check the crank for straightness. Hard to believe that they do bend.

If you need a crank let me know. Might be cheaper to build that engine up as a 12v and get a 12v head.

I really think the Crank on the Donor motor Is bent. I found a Puller in the tickle trunk just like the one I posted, which is from the Quick serve Cummins online manual . I may go and try and pull the Gear tomorrow. Biggest problem is there are to many people involved
...Who is going to pay for What Syndrome ....
That's why I am trying to stay the Heck out the stuff till they Decide what they are going to do
Considering the Donor motor Was supposed to be A drop in

Thank you Mike

I would NEVER, NEVER ,EVER install a used motor that had a hit to the crank. Think about how much force was exerted on the front of the truck to crumple it all the way into the crank.

Most reputable wreckers won't even sell a motor with a front hit, too many come backs. The motor sounds ok but a hit like that can damage the thrust bearings. After 2 weeks of driving it the thrust bearings go out and the customer calls back right PO'd.

I passed up two good deals on used engines when replacing the engine in my '03 due to having been hit on the crank pulley. One was so bad the timing cover was crunched in and the notched wheel for the crank sensor was all mangled. I was ticked about that one as the guy on the phone said it ran good. When I got there and saw the damage I asked how they could have had it running with the CPS damaged like that.

Ether he said....

Not sure what your situation is but I assume that if its not your choice then you're not paying for it. Warranty?

Either way I'd want to see at least a 90 warranty on that replacement engine.
