That price was all in for the heater, 7 day timer and the 4-6 hours of install. Anywhere else I talked to was near 3K.

Ya 1800 is a good price. Also Ebay is a good place. I know there was a guy on there selling the kits for 1500 or so plus shipping and he was from canada also.

well ok then, I can get the espar D5 kit for less than 1000 more than 900 tax in. So I'll do that, then have to get the timer separate I imagine. I didn't look in the box too well though. looked like a complete install kit though. I'll install it myself.

thanks guys looks like I've decided.

I'm running a D5 like what has been said. Never had an issue with it, its been the one thing on my truck thats been flawless. When I get home for a couple days, it will be coming off the dually and onto the 12v. Make sure you get the timer. If you are on consistant schedule, it is a must have.

I got my hater for around $800 w/ GST. I had to buy some stuff (hoses, fittings) to install, and make a bracket. I might buy the timer ($300), but just use the switch right now.

The 7 day timer is worth the dough.. it also does the troubleshooting for the F Codes to give you direction on common install problems or problems down the road. I let the local shop in town borrow mine so they could get another one running. Took about 2 seconds to figure out the problem from that.

Hmm never really was interested in these until I saw this thread and started thinking how nice it would be to have a warm truck in the morning and not agrivate the neighbors anymore then nessesary running the truck in the morning. Might have to add this to the ever lengthening list of things to buy for the truck.

I've got my Espar D5 all lined up at work, just waiting to see if they can get me a 7 day timer to go with it. I guess we only stock the heater and install kit. I should find out tommorrow abut the timer.

any where else a good place to get a timer? I can go across the street to the Pete dealer I guess but anyone have any other recommendations if I can't get the timer through work?

Fred, I always thought it was for Mercedes cars, BaH who needs it..

But now its just too darn handy. I just have to hook up the signal wire from the heater and install the relay for the blower motor. Then I can have the truck interior warm too.

If you can get the heater, the timer shouldn't be too hard to get.

Oh ya the heater and install kit is no problem. theres 3 or 4 on the shelf. I know I can get the timer at Peterbilt, just throwing it out there to see if anyone has a good place to get one though.

I was just thinkin if you guys ordered the heaters, you could get a better deal on the timer than hitting the open market...

for certain. like half price, but I'm not sure they'll bring a timer in for me. its not stocked in house and the system says its never been sold. The partsman said we moved 10 heaters this year so far. but no timers.

If they'll bring me one in, laughing......I'll get the full meal deal for about $1030 including tax. If not......I'll go get one. I'm so sold on having anytime anywhere warm truck.....and that heater relay idea is GOLD. I'm fully sick of 5am cold truck syndrome. last winter was the last straw

Wow just the thought of having a warm interior to jump into in the morning is killing me, let alone less wear and tear on the truck starting cold in the morning, its settled I'm puttin one on this winter.
How much diesel would it burn in half an hour?? I know its not much but I'm interested in knowing how much diesel I would be going through using it every morning.

Somewhere around a half litre for an hour it says. To be honest, I never really checked. Hard to get a good gauge when you are switching to winter diesel and doing varied driving.

Luke, you could check Cummins. Thats where I picked up my Espar from, they should be able to get it for you. At what price, I can not say.
