I wondering if second gens had better bearing, I have similar miles 350K KM~to about 212k mile, and my bearing seem fine.

Got 436KM on my front bearings...I had to replace one, because of my screw up replacing a brake disk...Thats was not the bearings fault..But my truck is a highway truck...Maybe rough roads beat the bearings out faster..

My front end is OEM too on the 97 with 350,000 km on it. Not all highway either.

lucky guys.. I hate the price of these bearing sets.. I just might go the OP direction.. buy that warn hub set up.. Looks like the cat's meow.. wonder if there is a set of replacement inner axles for the third gens. My 04 gets beat on pretty hard..

I will probably look at doing that with my '03 when the time comes.

I think my saving grace for mileage is that the only "off road" I do is my driveway and the very odd gravel road. I am almost totally highway driving and only use 4wd when it's needed in the snow.

As much as this old girl is worked towing and such, it rarely touches gravel.

Why do you want to change the inner shafts? They are all 1-piece, unlike most of the 2nd gens.
