Calling all driveshaft experts!

Well, I have gone and done a number to my rear driveshaft! On my truck near the transfer case is a gimmick that looks like a harmonic balacer. Long story short, it is now no longer on my driveshaft and I have no hope of getting it back on........ How important is this thing? Really contemplating putting it back together without it. Will it just possibly put me out of balance or is it necessary for a counter weight of some sort for the t-case? Remember it is in-between the t-case and the steady or carrier bearing. Might order up some centramatic drive shaft balancers.......

I don't think they are terribly important, neither of my trucks have them.

some vehicles have them some don't, i imagine it's a harmonic dampner. Toss it back in and see what happens worse case scenario you have to get your driveshaft balanced.

I think it's just a harmonic dampener of sorts Swampy. I'd say you would be fine without it-may notice a harmonic vibration at a certain RPM possibly?

I briefly thought of duct tape! Lol. But then I figured the way that sucker was pressed on there with that rubber in-between the driveshaft and the balancer I knew there was no way I was ever going to duplicate what some machine at a factory did with duct tape.
