Thanks Dave! That would be great, I'm really curious to see what I'm running at so far. I'm on a cheap but tough budget so a good 271 is a little more than I would like to spend rite now. What's wrong with the 205 in your opinion?

They won't take the power that the newer cases will. The 271 is a much bigger case in comparison to the 205. 205's are behind old gas engines that put out maybe 300 ft-lbs. The 271 is holding up behind 1000hp diesels in racing and sled pulling trucks. No need to be afraid of the aluminum case/chain style t-case.

Not scared of the 271, I've Seen what it can survive! But my 92 dually came factory with a 205, it's no racer(yet) but I did a lot of pulling with it last summer without any hiccups. And she's got just under 700 000 km, got her off the original owner and he moved a couple 80' house trailers with it and pulled a 40' stock trailer almost daily and when I bought the truck he said he only did one tranny in it and basic things ( brakes, bearings, u joints). Nothing's indestructible tho, but the 205 to me comes close! Cast iron case and gear driven and has a fairly phenomenal track record in the off road world! I'm just goin for cheap tough parts! A good used 271 is gunna cost $1000-$1200 and new yolk for drive shaft is about $100. To rebuild a 205 is under $250(including purchase of 205) and the adapter kit is $350 ($4x0 by the time it's shows up no doubt) so it roughly half how much a 271 would be and definitely gunna last longer than a 241 lmao
