Any Powerline men out there?

I'm thinking I want to hang up my wrenches and go do something new. I like the sounds of this trade and was wondering if any of you guys do it or are friends with anyone who does who might want to share there thoughts on this trade. Just looking for some in sight from someone who does it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,and maybe get a foot in the door somewhere

I believe ATCO Electric is almost always looking. But I believe they tend to want guys with 2 year NAIT/SAIT technologist diplomas and they want you to live way in the country (if that appeals to you).

I used to. I worked for RS line. It was good work, but i couldnt handle the paycut. But it was a job i would go back doing anytime. Learned alot in just a few months. If i was gonna do it again, i think i would work direct for the company. I would look at Fortis, they have alot of good perks for company guys(safety money for cloths, allowance for tools, etc).

I hear Fortis is the place to be, I'm not sure about Atco. I would much rather be out in the woods then stuck in some small tunnel under some road in Edmonton.

They make pretty good money, and I bet it is a stable job. But I think the kicker is it's pretty much something you have to go to school for first and then get a job.

But if you want to do it, schooling is a pretty small price for a good career.

I know I am so happy i'm going back to school for something better. You can never have to much schooling.

The few guys I have talked to have just been hired then done a four year apprenticeship. I guess thats what I am hoping for so I have a way to pay the bills.
