Here are a few pics of the building. That gas turbine is around 32000HP at sea level. All the hoses on the back of the engine are for emissions, we call them staging valves.

The first picture, is the guts out a Nouvo Pignone PCL603 natural gas compressor. Its slang name is called the bundle or cartridge. The LM2500 is the aero derivative of a GE CFM56 or the engine on a new 737-westjet plane.

I didn't think that I would get a chance to work on the aero stuff again, or at least so soon...

Hey Mike...These jet engines....so they rate on torque also.??...or is this just a stupid question..Seen some nice jet engines at the Airdire shop during the nova years also...

Yes they do, typically for couplings sizing. They also rate coupling on rotating speeds. Hows stampede been going? Hoping to get my 02 truck fixed up very soon.

Thats pretty good power output for the size. The gas turbines I worked on were a lot bigger, but not a lot more power. That Frame 7 was in the 70k hp if I remember right. Had a little steamer on the front of it and the gen on the back. The ABB one put them to shame though.

Most gen sets are co-gens aka steam turbine. Helps you to get to over the 50% efficiency mark. The Rolls Royce gen set had a 32 meg steam turbine attached to it. The reason that GE frame are so popular is that they burn more gas/fuel and make more waste heat (steam) than the aero derivatives.

I should go to one of those ex-Nova parties one day, been gone 10 years, still haven't been to one yet, its a good way to meet old friends.

Stampede is fun times, just usually I'm out of town working. Dave, I'll drop by next week and we can get the ball rolling on the other truck.

Found a few more pics for you guys
The first one is an Alstom Tornado (roughly around 10000hp) and the other is an old Westinghouse W-92 (made in the late 40's early 50). The tornado is from APL plant and the W-92 is from Spectra 2-B plant. It might be in a musmeum, somewhere.... The W-92 thermoefficency was around 18% (lots of fuel gas and about 7000HP)

I have more pics, I'll post more later. Some pretty cool stuff other there in the bush.

Yes, they are. Once apon a time that was fuel gas. When they started up that unit, the entire building was filled with heavy smoke. I guess they use a vaccum on the tin work, to pull off oil vapor. They had a heavy oil leak. The day before, the unit had a bad vibration problem. I think Spectra has removed the last of the W-92. They had to run on a turning gear for 12hrs prior to starting unit. That got rid of the shaft bowing problem. The W-62 was the same engine in the P-80 (shooting star)

You know how old that stuff was wwII stuff vintage...
The W-92 was the hod rodded W-62 of the 50's....

ok guys here is some update pics. The dpf/cat is history. Brett and I built a delete pipe last night for the truck. Not to bad for a few hours work. It fit in the truck like it was designed to. My $20 delete pipe. Next air horn and exhaust manifold. Water/methanol and a camshaft is on my wish list. Also I would like to send a big thanks to Brett for helping out, thanks man, it was a fun evening...
