The DPF is easy.. Code free is the ticket. If Marco has the J-35 recall already tackled in the 2009 software, 2010 shouldn't be far off. I like the H&S kit for the EGR blocker. I haven't done that yet. 2 hours and mine is good to go for a visit to the dealer. They will have many questions, but I will have few answers..

Jason, you know the warranty game. Sometimes you wonder if its worth the hassle as at the end of the day your paying for something anyways.

I'll post some picture of the truck when I get back home. I barely got it home and I had to head down south. So far I'm averaging around 10L per 100km's on my 100km trip, I wonder if it will stay that way for long...

I'm more excited about get back into the ranger building up. I'm curious if the fiberglass will fit.

Not much of a game for me.. Its more of keep-away from the dealer. Maybe I am too trustworthy, but the engine should be fine for a long time. The tranny, well I don't expect warranty to cover it anyway. I get all my reflash updates through Marco .

The mileage should improve. Not much but it should be better.

I thought 10L per 100km's was pretty good, for a brand new truck (of course thats off the dash fuel consumption display). Once you lose the emission stuff, how much better does the mileage get? I want to build this truck-up for towing my monster RV. When my 02 was brand new, I was lucky I got 12-14mpg or 15-16L per 100km's. I remember driving the 02 to Vancouver, right off the show room floor. The truck had to shift down into 2nd gear (empty) on a few steep hills. Thats crazy, today the truck can do the entire trip in OD. I bought a ez from BD once I got out there. That fix the lack of power. The 10 seems to have decent power for a stock truck. The 02 was a dog (hah) until I bomb it (fix it)... I put a ez box on the 02 truck at 800km.

I totally read your mileage wrong.. I thought you said 10 MPG, not 10L So yes that is awesome and better than mine with the deletes..

I never had warranty on my 6.7 cuz i saved 14K buying in the USA. I was waiting for a long time to get things deleted and my mpg was brutal til I started Alpha testing with the Smarty.
142K miles and no big issues.
Speaking of Smarty...does anyone know if I can help a friend with his Smarty for an 06 off of my computer? I am guessing as long as I have his software and his smarty hooked up I can update for him, correct? He is not a computer savvy guy and needs to get his 06 unit updated.

BLACKTEC Its whats for Diesels!

I will find out shortly what kinda mileage it gets. I have to put in my fifthwheel hitch and brake controller. I'm plan to go up north with it next week. I just put on 6700km on the 02 in less than two weeks, I average pretty decent fuel mileage for the entire trip. The manual says that I can tow right off the show room floor, so I plan to do that. If anything it will breakin the motor abit faster than not towing anything. I sure hope that I get better than 10mpg, man that brutal. Ya the lie of meter shows 10L per 100km, but I only have 116km on the truck, so things will change.

Took a good look see at the exhaust tonight, that should be an easy removal. The sims should work and a chunk of exhaust should have that DPF long gone. Edge sells a product that adjusts the regen counter, so you can delay a full regen cycle. I'll see about get on of the first units. At least I can beta testing. I'm going to run the smarty down the road, but I want gauges, without having permanent gauges (red flag at the dealer). There are also a few cool features, like the turbocool down timer, defuel, rail pressure and so on.

I'm thinking about putting a thin metal plate on the exhaust cooler to block off the turbo to cooler bypass line. Might get a code at some point, but I get the edge to clear codes on start-up.

A note on the code clear on start. I remember reading some posts here or on the TDR that after a few hundred clears it starts to mess with the ECM. I think the ECM starts to try to do its learning DTC routine and keeps getting interrupted then little things start to cause lights and dings.. Just sayin..

The MADS instructions for the Smarty also talks of this routine as you can get codes thrown with the ME software until it goes through this routine depending on when you upload your program.

Can you believe that the driveshaft is thicker than my 02 driveshaft? A new truck shouldn't be so darn nice and clean. I'm have to put a dent/scratch in the truck so I get over that new truck worry.

I'll get the smarty once Marco gets that figured out, and do a code free delete. My way isn't perfect. I want gauges and although I don't like digital gauges, it will work for now. Also this is the cheaper route.

Jason, did you put in a airdog or fass pump on your 08 truck? I want to run a 3 micron Fass 150 and drawstraw V on the new ride. I like have extra filters, and want to run the same stuff as my 02. Dodge probably red flag me over that mod.

Just to update the mad bombers out there, I just bought the edge CT and all the sims to do the dpf delete. I also got the egr plug figured out as well. The 2010 model, there are four sims for the exhaust system.

Brett and I took a look at the under hood space or the lack of space. Its going to be interesting build-up thats for sure. The cam swap shouldn't be that hard of a deal, very similar to the older trucks. Got a decent new injector hook-up as well. So by this fall, if Marco comes thru, we could have 2010 twins on the beasty. Also there is very little room between the top of the valve cover and the firewall, makes you wonder if they even considered that part. The firewall extends nearly half way over the head.

As for a comparision between my old truck and the new ride, the older truck seems to respond faster, spools-up harder, seems to have more big ump. Of course the 10 truck is still stock for now. I did a fuel consumption reset, on a 120km trip, I average 13L per 100 km. Thats way better than my 1500 hemi, that got 17L per 100km.

Been a fun adventure, trying to get my old fifth wheel hitch into the truck. Been trying to buy the new bed rails for my old hitch. Everywhere I go, the hitch shops want to sell me a $2000 hitch for my spanky new truck as my older hitch is old and rusty. Nothing that a $10 spray bomb can wont fix.

I saw Mike's new 2010 "work truck" on Sunday.

A fully loaded, all leather, every option, "work truck"! Incredibly nice but I still can't warm up to an automatic transmission, even if it has 6 forward gears.

Just a question. Did Dodge improve the OEM fuel filtration on the 2010's?
That might be a good 1st mod which "shouldn't" affect the engine's warranty.

BTW, the 3M paint protection place that I couldn't remember is Shadow Tinting on Macleod Tr south by the Hooters. http://shadowtinting.com/

I did a ton on my 2004 Dodge & my wife's car. It's not cheap but really protects the paint & doesn't require any maintenance at all.
If you get it on new paint before any rock chips, it will really protect the paint & no more time spent touching up rock chips.

Nice truck Mike!!

I'm getting a Fass 150 fuel pump 2-3 micron and a draw straw mod done shortly. Might even do the rail pressure shim. I took out the silencer baffle out today, I'll have to show that part to you guys, at the next GTG. I have parts to remove the DPF and install sims, so I can run a straight pipe.

Joe, here is the gear ratio breakdown. Dodge did a nice job with the 2010 truck. As with any truck there are good things and bad things and any truck thats new and shiny is a nice truck. I did try the truck out in some muck on the weekend and got some tar on it.

I thought I post an update on the new truck. As of now I have a young 6000km's on the truck. Nice truck, on a hot 27 deg'C trip from Minot to Great Falls, the back of my shirt is still dry.

I broke the rear window on my last weekend camping out. So the new is been long gone now.

Here a few pics for all the no beleiver's to think that this is a work truck. Nice truck for those 12+hr drives.

Just machinery porno, I included a picture of a LM2500 gas turbine, my reason for being in Minot. They ran this engine 365/24/7 last year, first time ever... much of it at least 90% or better of maximum load
