Unhappy about my 2011 Dodge
I have a 2011 Dodge 3500 Dully with a Cummins. Traded a 2004 Cummins in 4 it but not happy at all with the new one at all. Fuel mileage is terrible and not really nowhere the other one had. Is there anything I can do that won't void my warranty? Do alot of hauling and don't want to loose the warranty. Really need help with this deal. Luv the truck Hate the mileage.

how many miles are on it? it gets better the more miles that are on it. smarty jr with "S" software keeps all emissions equipment in tact. I am getting 17+ mpg with that software and 12.2 pulling. how heavy you pulling? how fast your driving?

It has 19,000 miles and everyone says that it will get better but I don't know how much more I can afford. 16,000 pounds pay load and I try to run about 65 but when I'm empty I get maybe 15 & loaded I get 10 or less.

Yes but the 04 was 2wd and the 11 is 4wd. Not sure about the gears but both manuals. I know the 4wd will not get as good as the 2wd but darn 15 + or - come on. I think it should do better than that.

If the 04 was an 04.5 there is really no difference in power, and if the 04 had lower gears than the 11 it's possible it did feel stronger.
Mileage is normal for the truck, nothing you can do to bump it that wont void an engine warranty.. thou honestly the engine warranty isn't really needed once the emissions junk is gone.

pulling 30k (total truck, trailer and load) and getting 10mpg (around there plus or minus with wind, hills etc) is actually not bad. in reality, you are over gross and need a bigger truck. another factor is 2wd vs 4wd (lots of weight difference just in that alone), drag is another factor.
1. do the deletes and gain some mileage but if you are not looking for power, just do a smarty jr and set it on sw1
2. live with it
3. buy a bigger truck to be legal and get worse mileage

Shipyardman:
Sorry to hear you are not happy with your new truck Sir! I don't own one of the new trucks but can tell you that many of my friends do and almost ALL of them are saying the same thing you are about them! I didn't think I would ever say this,.....but based upon what you and alot of my friends have said, right now I would NOT buy a new 2011 Dodge CTD CR! I have owned five (5) Dodge CTD Pickups but no more new ones for me! In addition to the mileage issues, I have seen alot of problems with the EGR systems, the turbo shafts breaking, countless check engine and CEL issues along with many injector problems.
Good luck with your mileage issues and be careful about what you do as Chrysler is really cracking down on the warranty issues on these new Dodge Diesel Pickups.
