Steering "Honk" (Odd Binding Noise)
My new 2500 4WD came with an odd sounding sort of noise from what sounded like up around the steering column when turning slowly (as in a parking lot) mostly to the right. Took it to dealer and they found a TSB that confirms there's a potential problem with the power steering unit that causes this noise they call a "honk". First fix attempt per TSB is to bleed air from system, then if that doesn't fix it they have about seven or eight parts (like valves and such) that need to be replaced. So far on drive home (40 miles) the "honk" was gone.
Anyone else aware of this TSB?

The bleeding got rid of a lot of the "honking", but it still does it now and then. Svc advisor says run it awhile to see if it eventually bleeds out on it's own, but if not, I'll bring it back and they'll do parts replace.

Mine did this yesterday, then when i went to turn right into a parking lot i had no power steering and almost hit another car. The power steering came right back but the 3/4 turn with no power was less than fun. I wonder if it is a plugged valve

Had mine for a week and took it back for this.
Mine was diagnosed pre-bulliten and it took them forever to guess that it was air in the lines. they blaed the lines the first time it was better but still there more often then not. At my 1st oil change they said a bulletin had been put out and I was 1 of other 50 trucks that had this. By then it had pretty much stopped. I don't think they replaced any parts on mine. But it was a year ago now and I cant remember if I went in once or twice.
since then its been normal, every once in a while it will do a quick Honk but its been months since its happened.

warranty yes.
me, I never heard anything but my radio is on kill since I am darn near deaf. to me if it still steers and no leaks and no stupid loud obvious noises, then turn the radio up. the noise only happens in parking lot maneuvers anyways.

An update on my Honk and loss of power steering, Took the truck to the dealer and got the "unable to duplicate" I showed them this post with my phone and they sent a "Star" request , what ever that is. I have not heard back yet. I took it in Tuesday and the Service Manager said its a 24 HR turn around. Today in Thursday. I think I will bring him a watch and a calendar
