Returning to Ram, Need Input

Hi,

I've had quite a few trucks in my time and sold my '06 2500 QC 4x4 Cummins Auto 2 years ago for the GMC 2500HD Duramax I have now. I'm wanting a manual transmission before Dodge gets the inkling to kill it off like Ford and GM did.

As I've been shopping, I'm sort of stunned at what the ST now comes with and sort of at a loss for what "value" I'd really be getting by going with an SLT or Big Horn like I had before. I had an '00 SLT and an '02 Loaded Sport prior to my '06.

I've found a handful of leftover 2010's around and would be inclined to go with a 2010 if I went with the Big Horn. There's a coupld of dealers showing 2011 ST 4x4 manuals with popular options for $36K, and a few with 2010 Big Horns for $40K. Other than an inverter, power driver seat, map pockets and a few other things, anything on the Big Horn that's not on the ST I can add inexpensively. I've done that quite a bit in the past and I don't mind it.

I noticed the keyless upgrade in another thread and that was my primary concern on the ST. The only other gripe is the lack of the tan and brown interior in the ST.

I'm curious on others opinions on the matter and input as to what I may be missing by going with a 2010 left over versus a 2011 ST.

I always pick my options - then find the "package" that will give me most of them. In the truck I have on order, I wanted Duals, Leather and a MegaCab - so I had to go with a Laramie package.

I do like my trucks with all the bells and whistles and the difference between a megacab ST and a megacab loaded is about $3-$4000. I don't mind spending that on myself.

Yeah same for me.

When I went shopping for my '08 I knew I wanted a SRW longbed and a manual in at least SLT trim ..... anything above that was gravy.

I got what I wanted with some add-on's and couldn't be happier.

I've always owned middle of the road equipped vehicles. But this time around we went for the top of the line. I must say that this is the nicest as well as the most expensive vehicle I've ever owned... Of course I have a monthly payment that reflects that. I had to do without a storage unit and no cleaning Lady twice a month to make up the difference. But my wife is doing a swell job and it's for a good cause........me, and her camper....

I sent one of the kids back to the hospital for a refund - but THEY said 30 years was past the warrenty period - so I got the wife another job...

The ST is as nice as my 3rd gen Laramie.... Probably nicer .

Also if you want the manual shift transfer case you have to get the ST. Ha, and even my 3rd gen laramie has the manual shift transfer case (which I like).

I've been looking, and I think the 10 grand saved on the ST is well saved. I'll change the tires, wheels, and bumpers anyway.
I can add the Mygig Nav and speakers.

Looks Nice! That dark Rugged Brown is a nice color. The Pebble interior is my favorite too - the gray has just never done anything for me. It's just as easy to stain and if you spill your capachinno (sorry about the spelling), it will leave a mark. Not so bad with the pebble.

There are still a few 2010 standards out there. Me, I like crusin' in "Auto" mode. But thats just me.

Have fun with the ride!

I've also been looking at a couple leftover '10 model HD Rams.....what kind of money did you get off MSRP if you don't mind me asking?

Sticker was $48,660. Cash price was $40,200. I traded in a '08 GMC 2500HD 2WD Duramax CCSB with 31000 and they gave me over $33K for it. I paid right at $7K difference and they delivered it 823 miles to my driveway and picked up my trade no questions asked. I just had to write a check.

I saw a 2010 cclb in Washington for $11,000 off sticker on cars.com last night. The dealer I bought mine from (Billion Auto) now shows the "cash" price $4000 higher than they did when I bought mine (Jan 31). From what I've seen, Chrysler has a better rebate on the '11 than the '10, so it looks like its getting to the point that dealers will be stuck with '10's and not have any factory incentives.

incentive all depend on the region. they are not the same nationwide. the dealership here in town was different than the dealership in Idaho where i bought my new one. reason being is for example, a region has a lot of remaining 10 inventory than other regions so they will kick in a larger incentive to get rid of them and get caught up with the other regions.
