Outside temperature sensor

On the 2014 Ram 3500, it looks like the outside temperature sensor is in the driver's side trailer mirror. Ours started to show readings as low as -40C when it was +10C outside. I'll be taking it in to get fixed but I'm wondering if the diesel fuel or DEF tank heaters rely on this reading. Can't find any tech documents showing an outside temperature sensor for the DEF tank.

I am new to this site and I can't figure out how to start a thread and ask for help. So I'll start here . HELP ?
I have a 2003 Ram 2500. The outside air temperature is not showing any reading. I replaced the temp sensor but still no reading
What am I missing ? What else should I check ?

Welcome to DTR. If you go to 3rd Gen and repost this, you may bet better help. Go to this page and click on the red + New Thread button and that will open a new thread for you.

IIRC, the temp sensor is on the driver's side, in front of or just to the side of a vertical brace between the radiator and the headlight. It's a black thing smaller than my thumb. If that is what you changed out then I suspect you need to follow the wires and see where they may have been chewed through. Good Luck,
