Question info on 2010/2011 2500 cummins

As of this morning i was only interested in the 2009 2500 cummins but after getting a lot of information about possibly looking at 4th generation i have began to do research with the possibility i may buy one come my graduation day as I expected to do with the 09.

Im looking into a 2500 cummins either 10 or 11 and I am looking for insight to those who have the trucks now, if you would be so kind to tell me the year of your truck, type (ie package) and if you have any mods or what not and how you like it. Im very interested in the package as i do not know which I would go for.

And to top it all off if you happened to have some pictures of your truck and you would be so kind to post them that would be awesome. I searched online but you cant truly tell the truck because many people tag the picture wrong or its from the company and its usually full loaded etc.

thank you for your help

Hi,
I would send a PM to Blake Clark on this web site. Blake has own both3rd and 4th gen trucks. A 2008 Mega Cab and he now owns a 4th gen truck. If anyone he could tell you the +/- on the different trucks he could.

I would also visit this site to read up and see what are the major differences are for on the 2010 and 2011 trucks.

Click on MY and then the icon you want drill down till you get the information you are looking for such as.

Sometimes after reading all of this information and thinking. You could have the following issue, it is called; Analysis Paralysis. (engineering term)

I have the 2010 auto, 3:73 rear anti slip, Laramie Crew cab. Optional equipment include: Leather trim bucket seats, protection group (skid plate), Snow plow prep package (180amp alternator) Sunroof, Clearance lights, chrome side steps,Media Center (cd/DVD/HDD/Nav radio,Backup camera, brake controller,Bedliner. Things I added after market are the Dodge remote starter and the Dodge T-Tow mirrors, rear sway bar, airbags, AFE dryflow drop in air filter and DPP cool air hose. With after market add ons it ran around 56K.

Good Luck

I've talked with the op via PM and gave some pointers.

My 08 was a great truck, with nary the issue. I got rid of it cause I hated the short bed, missed my standard transmission, and by God, have you seen the 4th gen Laramies!!!!

Any way. The blood and guts of both trucks will be the same. Same engine, tranny, axles etc. So its not like the 5.9 vs 6.7 debate.

Pros of a 2010 (or 2011)

Crew Cab available with a long bed. (not sure if you need a Long Bed or not, if you dont, then look towards the mega. The interior room is almost unbelievable)

Very few bluetec issues. They have them pretty well functional if you leave them stock, however, just like the 3rd gens, fuel milage is not so hot.

Ride is substantially improved. I mean really really improved. Drive a 3rd gen and 4th gen back to back and you will see what I mean.

The interiors of the trucks. Man oh Man, Dodge really stepped up their game. They are just awesome.

Cons of the 2010

The 3rd gens are getting cheaper and nice trucks can be found for good prices.

The computers are more complex, but not as big a jump as 5.9 to 6.7 as with the 3rd gen 6.7 to 4th gen 6.7

I encourage you to spend some time in both. Preferably pick out one of each and drive them back to back. Then see how much money you want to spend.

Good luck

Blake

Maybe y'all can chime in with some more info.

wow thank you all for all your help. yes i just looked over the other tread and it really helped me out a lot. i guess it primarily comes down to money. how much i have to spend haha. if i find i cant afford the 2010 or 2011 i will no doubt go back to the 2009 which i am currently torn about wanting. i love all the new features of the 4th gen but something keeps pulling me back to the 2009. ill keep you guys posted and of course will keep reading up more and more info. thanks

NB64 your truck is gorgeous it really came out very nice.

You mentioned putting a rear sway bar on your truck. I have a 2011 2500 4x4 with the "tow package". They seemed to forget to put on a stout receiver and a rear sway bar . Dodge's way of pinching pennies i guess. What rear sway bar did you end up with and would you recommend it?

2011 2500 4x4 6speed manuel, Mine is a ST with popular equipment package, and the chrome apperance package. Gives it the look of a nicer truck and not a work truck but doesnt have the SLT price.

The popular equipment package gives it the 40/20/40 premium cloth seats sat. radio and rear folding seats and cloth floorboards.

Chrome apperance package gives it chrome wheels and chrome bumpers and grille, the only diff's between a SLT and mine is chrome door handles, the SLT and laramie wheels, fog lights for the most part....

I have a 2011 Mega Cab that is bone stock. Love it so far. My 5.9 was more powerful in modded trim, but couldn't hold a candle to the refinement and ride quality of my new one. She tows great too!

If budget is an issue when looking look at the ST, it is very nice too.

I think the major difference from the 09 to the 10 and 11 is the body and body mounts. Most of the rest is the same for all importants.

I still like how the 07-09 looks though , but new is good too and holds value better than old.
