Motor Trend 2011 F250 vs. 2010 RAM 2500
Did anyone read the comparison test?

I found it very interesting how close both trucks are. Sadly no Chevy in the test. I thought the F250 with that new engine/transmission combination would be far ahead in fuel consumption, but it wasn´t. Ford marketing got me on that one. I wonder how both trucks would perform when broken in.

It looks pretty impressive having power numbers that high, with such decent fuel economy. Some of the testing was disappointing though. Too bad they didn't have two trailers with matching heavy loads, like 12,000 lbs., and run the trucks together. It would be more valuable to me to see how they could handle a load like that on a long 10% grade, instead of which one had the cushiest seat or the comfiest cupholder. All in all, the new PSD looks like a great truck and I hope the new engine is a big winner. It seems good so far.

Hmm- they should have found it noteworthy that the Dodge has a better warranty. That is a tangible item. And, given Ford's recent track record, a long warranty period is a must to give someone the confidence to buy their product.

Did nobody notice...
On the trailering test - there was no mention of the exhaust brake on the Ram? For me, thats probably one of the single things I'm looking most forward to in my next one...
just my .02c...
cheers.

There also was no mention that you have to buy Urea for the exhaust system and the fact that there is a cost to that may turn some away from the super duty. They mentioned in the text that the Superduty had more options and indicated that it was fancy compared to the Ram but there is several thousand dollars more in the base price for the Superduty and even more in the price as tested

And just what did they mean
" Still the commercial-grade workhorse of the bunch, but the rough edges are beginning to show. "
Why would they make the Ram the Truck of the year and then make a comment like this?? Do they mean that an I6 will never compete with a V8? Or is this just showing that Ford sponsored this article?

Who knows what they meant. Some of you guys are too easily offended when it comes to our beloved Dodge's.
I've been test driving new everything, including gassers, and the new '10 Dodge leaves a little to be desired. Regen sounds like a huge pain in the wazoo. Now they're way down on hp and torque.
Ford SD's have a much nicer interior look and feel. And the F-150 Platinum interior is in a class by itself.
And please, Dodge, why would you have oem puny 17" wheels even on the Laramie, along with bologna sized tires. Ford SD's come with 33" and 34" equivalent tires on 18" and 20" wheels.

I think what Dirteater was trying to say was that Ford has usually been good about filling the wheel wells on their vehicles with 'correct' sized wheels and tires. Compare a stock F250 and up standard wheel package with a Dodge or GM product standard wheel package. The Ford standard wheel packages just usually 'look' more appropriate on the truck.
