Getting ready to purchase and need some insight.

Hi Everyone,

I have decided to get a new truck and I need to know what options I can live without and what options I need.

I am trying to figure out what a 2fz package is compared to a 2ez package.

I am set on the automatic but what is the real difference between the 11 and the 11.5(HO) besides a number written on paper?

I have seen some window stickers with the auto stating 68rfe and other that just say 6speed automatic. Are there two different auto's?

Thanks in advance. CHAD

The 11.5,12 HO trucks are better.

I wish I would have waited but not much of a big deal now because all the work I did. I just wish I could have tested that better torque converter.

The weak link is the overdrive unit NOT the converter. The Stock one is a double disk and very good converter.

Just one auto on the standard trucks. The 6spd 68RFE.

On the C&C versions its an Aisin built six speed.

I remember reading about or watching a dyno that was ran between both the H.O. and the non-H.O. motors (both stock) and the non-H.O. came out on top when it came to HP and the H.O. just had more torque on the bottom end, but lost HP I think over 2000 or 2500 RPM. Just my 2cents. I wish I could remember where I saw it.

Found two slightly used ones. A big horn short bed non HO with 3300 miles.

Also a ST longbed with 16k.

Are there any guys with service beds. I plan on putting one on for work.

Also are there any guys with upward of 100k miles yet on a fourth gen? I would be interesting to hear an opinion from higher milages.

I love my new HO, test drove both and the HO even sounds nicer, torque converter seems better, love that the cruise is on the steering wheel where it belongs and not on a stupid stick in the worst spot by the steering wheel. The HO has more torque and definately feels like it does, you won't be disappointed paying the extra for the 11.5-12 over the 11

Well I did it!

I ended up getting an early '11 with 3k miles on the truck. I think this truck will be plenty for what I plan on doing with it.

Thanks to all who chimed in for me when I needed it.

Just a note, I may be the most frugal person on this site. I mean "Squeaky Tite"! So i didn't even bother with trying to find a 2012. I will have to post my adventure on buying this truck in a new thread.
