So whats the word? Is it any good, whats the range? Or should a guy just stick to aftermarket?

A buddy of mine has an 08 1500 mega with the remote start...it seems to work really well.

Nice to start the truck on a cold morning before going hunting and let it warm up a little to take the chill off.

I ordered mine from the dealer it should be here any day. I've always had after market remote start in all of my vehicles. In my 04.5 cummins I had the Viper system it was pretty good.
I choose Dodge's remort start because I have the Laramie model and with the factory remote it has an in cab sensor to determine whether to put on the heat/ heated seats/ steering wheel warmer or the ac/vented seats. No more forgetting to put on the defroster or settting the controls... Same price installed as my Viper system.

Mine worked nice this morning...got in and the windows were defrosted, and my seat and steering wheel were nice and warm!

All my vehicles have remote start and only one is aftermarket. The aftermarket doesn't coordinate with all the stock vehicle options like the factory ones do, so I prefer the factory units. Works great - gotta love having that aircon going by the time you step in when it's 100 degrees outside!

It's awesome and you just let the truck do the thinking for the DIESEL starting requirements.

mine works flawlessly from my living room to the driveway. that's going through 2 walls and an aluminum garage door.
A distance of about 100'

Remote Start

I will agree that the factory remote start is nice....all the sensors working together and warming things up for you but for me range is an issue. Decided yesterday to install a DRONE in the truck so I can start it from anywhere using my iphone. Nice to have when the truck is parked at work and im too far away to start it. I didnt disable/uninstall the factory starter - just installed an aftermarket unit with the drone module ( easier than trying to wire the drone to the factory one ) and all is good. I can even setup the drone to turn on the seats and heated steering wheel if I want to. And if anyone decides they need my truck more than I do then the tracking feature will show me on google maps where my truck is and the range is unlimited as long as I have cell coverage

Check it out if you are interested :

I got my 2011 2500 Mega Cab a couple of days ago and it starts from anywhere in the house. Only thing I do not like is the fact that it beeps twice prior to starting. I understand that the engineers decided to do this so the user knows the function was initiated but its just not for me. Especially since I live by the "Nosy Neighbors". I work on airplanes so today I took it on the flight-line, nice open flat terrain, and measured to see how far it would work. 443ft. was the furthest distance I could get it to work from. "Pretty Impressive"

Yeah you can....one of the first things i did with mine. Disabled the horn on start and on lock. I leave really early for work and having the horn honk is not an option.
