the "UN" limited slip differentials in these trucks absolutely blows! As much as it pains me I'll tip my hat to Chevy in this department all day long for having the best unit, a true locker. I had mine on a hill side today and no matter what amount of brake application I applied the left wheel just sit there waiting to draw social security it seemed I am now in hot pursuit of an locker alternative offering for my application. Does anyone here shed any insight into a good aftermarket unit?

While I agree with your point, I just wanted to point out that Chev's G80 limited slip unit isn't an actual locker. It does use clutches to reduce slip just like most other limited slip units. The only difference with the Chev unit is that it contains a governor that only engages the clutches when it detects a speed difference between the two axle shafts. This unit is more effective because the clutches don't have to be designed to allow smooth slippage when driving and cornering on dry streets. For this reason, they will also last longer under light use than a common LSD unit.

So LSD is not an option anymore? That sounds goofy to me..

The way the Chev locker was described sounds exactly like the LSD in my Dana 80 in the 97..
