2013 factory goose hitch

I saw my first factory goose hitch in a 3500 today, boy have they ever screwed up. There are 5 holes about 4-5 inches diameter through the truck box and you can see daylight around all 5 fittings, if you plan to carry anything in the box like sand, gravel, small tools it might not be there when you get to your destination, not to mention you would never get a hitch in the truck again after hauling gravel. Also it doesn't come with a hitch you have to buy that separate and it appears there is no provision for safety chains. I just can't get over the 5 huge holes through the truck box???????

There are rubber plugs that cover those holes. The back holes have adapters that go in them for the safety chains when a goose ball is ordered.

Ahhh, thanks for the info that makes more sense but still no sale there is just too many large holes for me. My son ordered that hitch sight unseen back in January but for some reason his truck has still not arrived and yesterday was supposed to be the delivery date, after seeing that hitch last night he chose a truck off the lot with no goose and will get an after market one, Dodged that bullet.

Imagine trying to hook up the safety chains when the fittings are full of ice and road gravel, people just won't use them, it still gets a big fail.

While looking for a goose/5ver hitch for the 2013 3500 SRW I found myself on the B&W hitch web site, they appear to be the ONLY goose hitch that is currently useable on the 2013 . On their web site they say the factory ball and chains are not available yet so if you get the factory hitch.. you can't use it, be prepared if you ordered this factory hitch.

The 2013 truck with five hole is one that has the factory fifth wheel prep package. This has a gooseneck receiver in the center and four hole that have quarter turn female receivers for a "puck" system adapter that will sit in them and allow you to use your fifth wheel hitch.

The adapters are almost impossible to get.

If you have this package, BW does not have a fit for it yet.
