What kind of goose neck hitch and brake controller?

Thinking of putting a goose neck hitch in my truck, want a hide away style. I am looking at buying a 20ft trailer to pull fourwheelers with. Also what kind of controller and where is the best place to mount it and how hard is it to hook up the controller. Pics if you got em. Thanks

Josh

there are a few different things you should look at when deciding your brake controller; first thing is to decide on how many axles your trailer is going to have. another thing about these controllers is being able to set them up for the weight on your trailer. of course if you set your brake tension settings when your trailer is loaded the brakes will tend to lock up when the trailer is empty. i cant remember which controller i have but some of them have the wire adapter that will plug right into the stock computer. right above the brake pedal there should be a box with a bunch of different connectors plugging into it. i think the install on mine took about 5 minutes total.

You can't go wrong with the B&W turnover ball, that is what I have. I've seen the pop-up hitches and they look nice. I'd just be afraid something would get jammed and the ball wouldn't pop up.....I think they have a turn over ball as well.

On the brake box, you'll find varying opinions. Many like the Tekonsha Prodigy. I've had the Tekonsha Voyager for years. I recently gave my box to a friend who needed it on a Sunday. I bought the same exact box to replace it. The shop that I deal with (family owned), all 3 installed a Prodigy in their own trucks when they came out and all 3 switched back to the Voyager. The Voyager is simple to install and set up. I've read too many good reviews of the Prodigy to not think it is a good box once set up properly though. The Prodigy has more features and digital gain, not sure what else.

Anyway, B&W and Tekonsha is a very good combination.
