2011 Option makes no sense
I'm in the process of finishing up a build sheet with an area dealer to order a new rig. I just've been told that if I order the 4.10s I CANNOT get the limited slip rear. Say what? I've built wish list trucks on Dodge.com hundreds of times and they ALWAYS require the limited slip with the 4.10s; now it doesn't come with it at all? It was only an option with the 3.73 or 3.42 and NOT the 4.10.
Plus, the new HO motor is a $500 ADDition to the already nearly $8k motor, which you have to get if you want the Auto. $hee$h!

Sometimes I wonder what the Dodge execs were smoking when they made up the rules for what can or cannot be ordered.
I ordered my 2010 but wanted the manual transmission with the manual transfer case so I had to order an ST.
The problem is that you cannot get power windows, door locks or mirrors on the ST. Unless of course I order five or more trucks then they will put whatever I want on them.

I just took delivery of a Longhorn which I ordered. ALL 4.10's are limited slip. There Isn't an option for it because the 410 is an LSD. Unfortuneatly the dealer often doesn't know...i verified mine with RAM product management when I ordered and again after I took delivery on a lift.

Well, I bet that's right about the dealer "build man" not really knowing. But, what if he saw there is no option box to check for the LSD and then maybe it IS included with the 4.10s? Would that mean that it only shows as a $50 charge for the gears and not the extra $325 for the LSD? I'm thinking he just missed something.
Ok. With all that said, what if I eventually wanted to run some lockers front and back (down the road), would'nt I need to remove the LSD first? I've had LSD in my last two trucks and to be honest, I had a hard time getting them to lock up even on wet grass sometimes. Are they even worth it? Might be worth not having if I lock'em later.

Ive never had any issues with my LSD....
It always performed adequately.
My trucks window sticker shows the LSD as a standard feature, not an option.

ARB will be going in more than likely!

I found that a lot of salesmen at the dealerships have limited knowledge of the heavy duty rams. One told me I could get the 'rambox' fender tool boxes as an option on any unit. another told me the lsd is standard equipment on all the heavy duty trucks. I knew that neither of these things were true. Needless to say I did not buy from one of those dealerships. I think their knowlege is focused on the 1/2 ton units and cars at many dealers. jmo
One dealer I visited had a young salesman who did not know a thing. Everytime I asked a question, he had to go check with somebody, who did'nt know either. Figured, they did not have any truck heavier than a 1/2 ton on the lot - told me that "nobody needed anything heavier than that today!" Maybe not for your adverage urban cowboy, but for us who want a truck to earn it fuel, a 1/2 ton won't get it done.

I just got the explanation on my build from another guy as the original salesman I had is no longer there at the dealership. I was told that the 4.10 parts were back ordered for build at the assembly plant; and therefore the build sheet would not accept the LSD as an option until parts arrived. Looking at a ten day wait then should be all clear.
