12 or a 14 2500

I am looking to buy a newer truck. I have found you can get 2014 xrentals with less than 20k for under 40k these are SLT's I have found some 2012 non rentals for about 36 ish. one I like is a Big Horn 2500 H.O with a plow so its got center console and some extras. This truck is over 40k but I am sure 38 buys it. I have a plow for whatever I buy so I would recoup about 3k on the 2012. I know the 14's take DEF fluid. Is the mileage gain worth it? Any other things to consider?

The 14 year model has coil spring rear end and a stiffer high strength steel frame, which, increases tow rating about 8000 pounds.

Tow rating doesn't mean anything to me. I don't tow or put anything in bed. Its just a daily driver/toy I just plow a lil. So I have found a Big horn with Nav/ back up camera stereo for 39 with 23k on it. that's asking price I am guessing 37 buys it. Its pretty and clean No bed liner and bed is still real nice. But thx for import. It has the 350/800 motor also

2012 auto trans trucks had the 350/800 motor and were badged accordingly on the tailgate with the HO designation. That being said, the refinements made in 13 make me wish I had waited at least one more year. If it were me I would go 14 all the way.

38 1/2 inches from the ground to the top of the plastic with the tailgate down, it doesn't look lifted. I'm fairly tall too but I always use the step it saves the corner of those expensive leather seats.

Well I went with a 12 as long the bank ok's it. they should. But after the issues I am having with my 04 I bought a hemi. its only a grocery getter. I never tow or work them. I got a Longhorn crew 2500 4x4 for 36k with 22k on clock. I was afraid of emissions. not working and no long hauls would clog it up I read. Pictures to follow its a green one
