Precautions with DPF delete and H&S XRT with stock HP tune

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on my concerns......

I have a 2011 3500 and put the DPF/NoX delete pipe on. With this, I installed the "Standard HP" software from an H&S XRT. I do not have an EGT guage.

How much harder on the engine is running the Standard HP setting with the DPF delete vs a totally stock truck? Is there anything I need to watch out for?

Because I don't have an EGT guage, I'm worried about accidentally getting into a situation that could cause engine damage. I don't drive aggressively with the truck as I rely on it to transport and tow. I only installed these modifications in hopes of gaining milage and ensuring engine longevity.

I thought I was convinced this was the way to go after doing a bunch of research prior to purchase.....I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.

If you drive it as described you wont have any issues you would not have had completely stock.

Drive it and enjoy it.

I have the MinMax and can run all but the highest setting with no EGT issues, I have not towed anything real heavy up any real big hills though. But on the stock setting you should have no worries at all.

I think that i'm in the same boat as you on this one. I have done the deletes with the XRT pro and have also left the power in stock form. I would like to crank the tune up in order to get better mileage when i'm empty, but i'm scared of hurting the transmission more than the engine. I've had my pickup deleted for 20,000 miles already and no regrets. My one concern is that with my egr system in place i could spring a leak...

Thanks for easing my concerns. Blake, your info has been extremely helpful to me while I get acquainted with my new truck.

Redline, is there any differences between the XRT and Mini besides:
1. Mini stays plugged in
2. Mini has guages and pyrometer
3. Mini has a de-fueling safety function?

Is their tuning program relatively similar?

I believe there the same, the XRT just does not let you "play" as much.

1,200/1,250 should be max but you can go higher for short burst's. I am no Expert but this is what I have heard many times over the years.

well after the first week of deletes, approx 600 miles, I am very happy with mine...

I have been running on the wild setting, the tranny seems to shift differently that i am used to, but I don't think it is causing any harm.

Empty at 70-75 mph, my egts are around 650-700.

I havent pulled anything with it yet, but as soon as I do, I willpost some data.

I have my defueling parameter set at 1450 since that is what the default was at. I would like to tow with it first before I go changing safety settings....

With the new pipe I expected things to sound different..... And they do. However, there is a noise that if I were to guess, is either valve train or possibly injection system that I noticed. Sounds somewhere in between valve clatter and pinging. Only happens when I load it up under acceleration.
Anyone else have this? Is this normal?
One more silly question, a deleted trucks exhaust will smell different than a stock one right?

Its timing rattle and is completely normal.

And yes, they smell like a real truck when deleted.
