New Cummins Owner =)
Well I just bought a 2012 ccsb 4x4 Ram Cummins with 15k miles and I'm excited. This is my first Dodge I've ever owned so I have some questions. I have been reading some of the threads on here and have noticed once you add a programmer these trucks may require head studs or a built tranny. All I want is some added play around power and better fuel economy I don't want to have to buy a tranny or head studs atleast for 3 years. I just use the truck to drive to work and on a rare occasion tow my 25ft goose neck trailer. What programmer would you guys recommend? I have been looking at that Mini Max and the smarty. Thank you for your input

I had a smarty jr on my 11 for around a 120k and never had an issue with tranny or anything else. I did the dpf and egr/cooler delete and the programmer with about 300 miles on the truck. I didn't dog it though either. I just bought an H&S xrt pro and I probably will be needing a tranny upgrade soon. Has way more power than I really need. But sure is fun. If you aren't ever going to do much else performance wise smarty jr would be safe. Are you going to delete it or keep all the emissions stuff?

Right now i want to keep the emission crap on there because of the warranty . I figure if it still looks stock i can slide it by with my dealer as far as warranty work goes. If i start changing a bunch of **** and deleting stuff they will hassle me...

I'm running the H&S MiniMaxx on my '08, all my emissions stuff is still on, and I'm getting a solid 2 MPG gain from it in town (15 MPG) and up to 5 MPG on the highway (19 to 20 MPG hand calculated). Prior to the MiniMaxx, city was 12 to 13 MPG and highway was 15.5 MPG; both we hand calculated.
Recent emissions test after setting it back to stock came back as 0.00 g/mi and the DPF is clean.
I only run the tow tune since I'm worried about the clutch handling the added power the third and fourth settings provide (tow is +40hp, street is +80hp, high is +120hp).
So far its been a great investment and at $4 or more a gallon, it's saving me money.

If the service shop reads your ECM the program shows up and it voids your warranty. So if you want to keep your warranty might as well just not program it or anything. Mine is in the shop right now for the first time at dodge. Sheared off the left outer tie rod. Haven't had any issues other than that
