New 3500 Dually owner 5-17-12
Hello,
I just purchased a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Silver Dually. I traded in my 06 5.9 Mega-Cab in. I'm going to miss my Mega-Cab but I just love the new look and the comfort of the new Dodge Ram.
I will be towing a 17,000 lb Toy Hauler, so the Dually will be a much more stable ride! I've got to purchase a 5th wheel hitch now. Thinking about the B & W Companion. Thoughts??
What is the best money I could spend on waking this thing up a little?
Thanks

Well that depends. You want to keep the warranty or not?
If you do, leave it alone.
If you dont, Id say, Smarty JR, or XRT Pro with Cali Style deletes. The XRT Pro would have the tranny tuning option if you have th 68RE. If you have a G56, get a SouthBend and call it a day.

B & w
I love mine, Not a hard install, and a clean bed when the hitch is out. Farily easy to take out in two pieces. Congarts on the new ruck. I also weht with the Smarty Jr. Tows the 36ft toyHauler with ease. Not the milage of my 04 but more power and I love the eBrake and paddle shifter.........
I went with B&W 5th wheel hitch.
Not worried about warranty, good dealer. Trying to make up mind on what I want to do. I do have the 68RE. Probably going to do the XRT Pro.
Do you guys tow in OD or do you manually leave it in 5th gear. I have a 3.73 gear.

I manually leave it in every gear....
Unless your pulling really heavy and it seems to be wanting to stay in 6th and lug, I wouldnt worry about manually shifting it. On my 08 for most loads it was just hit tow/haul and go.

Well the only problem with your good dealer, is if something were to happen on one of your trips a long way from home you would have to take it to the nearest dealer based on you location at the time.
I have a 2012 mega cab dulley AND I pull a fith wheel, with no sliding hitch! using B&W companion. They told me it could not be done but it work great, no broken window or bent cab! If any one is curious how I did it let me know.
