Less smoke ?

I posted on another forum, possibly same group of peeps here, but thought I would give it a shot !

I did a 4" down pipe and delete pipe. I installed DPF-R type delete electronics(resets regen counters at start up). This thing smokes more than I was expecting. Would a tuner tame down the smoke ? It smokes more than my modded 7.3 did. I was trying for a vid but havent been successful yet.
It dosent bother me if im hard on the throttle, but just passing on the freeway leaves a cloud and a trail. Also just cruising at 1500rpm, steady throttle will produce a puff every little bit.
I realize nature of the beast to some degree, but a neighbors truck with smarty dosent smoke hardly at all.

Its not rolling 12 valve coal but still more than I would like.

Ill keep trying for a vid.

Thoughts ?

Let the flaming begin.

The smoke you are seeing is due to the EGR system still functioning. With that you are going to get alot of off idle smoke, idle haze and low power cruising smoke. The puffs are the EGR cycling the throttle valve in the intake as well as flooding the engine with exhaust.

Simple experiment would be to pull the plug on the EGR and see if that helps. Else, get a programer like the Smarty Jr and be done with all of that.

IIRC the Smarty JR has gone through the Beta Testing and should be available soon.

I assume that you have several "codes" flashing while running like that - are there any other problems that could come up?

The dpf delete electronics clear the dpf related codes at start up, it however does not reset the CEL for the egr being unpluged. I ran the truck with egr unpluged for several thousand miles with no problem other than a cel on the dash.
