DPF Delete
Just want to make sure its done right. This will not be done by me, but by the pro's. Im gonna keep the 4" stock pipe but will delete from the turbo to the muffler and will use a H&S Mini Maxx to handle the codes. Just looking for any other advice that may be helpful to me as I go through this process.
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you plan to use the additional power aggressively, look into head studs to keep the head gasket tight. If you,re staying near stock power and driving for mpg it isn't much of a problem.
I would also change out the factory intake and boost tube for a H&S one this will avoid buying the egr valve delete part and you will only need the EGR cooler delete. While you are at it also remove the crankcase vent pipe from the intake to the turbo and block it off, run a 4 foot piece of 3/4 heater hose from the crankcase to down by the frame rail on the pax side. While I like the overhead mount for the mini max as it is out of the way and blends in well I now find it difficult to read with sun glasses on. My son on his 2011 had his mounted to the center dash at a slight angle and found it better. When plugging into the OBD2 port remove the obd2 port and invert it back into the same spot it may be necessary to free up a little wire to do this but with it upside down it gets the mini max adapter up and out of the way and makes the port inaccessible unless the panel is dropped so not as easy to hook a scanner to.
You should plan to monitor the EGT and the usual place is in the exhaust manifold just before the turbine but if you do the EGR COOLER delete the rear plate can be drilled and tapped on the bench and avoid possibly braking a tap in the exhaust manifold. Don't forget to update the tuner I would also recommend getting the H&S transmission tuning if you don't you'll see why after you have deleted.

Hello everyone
Looking to delete 2012, I found some h&s mini max for sale - some users say "this is the one you want". Is there a specific h&s part number or part number and mfg date that is best /desired? I do not need any more power, just clean engine and mpg
Thanks

I understand 2013 trucks no longer work with H&S tuners, but I was not aware of any confirmed problems with 2012 or older trucks. Seems kind of important to clarify for those that might be interest in used trucks.
Has this really been confirmed that Ram released a tune for the original poster's 2011 truck that would no longer work with H&S?

I doubt that H&S will confirm that issue as they are really touchy about the DPF delete issue. I would be touchy too if one of my competitors was almost fined out of business by the Feds.
Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that as long as the ECM is running a stock tune at the time of the update flash, you can then reflash with your performance tuner. The issue arises if a non-stock tune is detected at the time of the update flash... then the ECM will be locked out.

if you load any tune into a ecm it is no longer a stock tune and you will have a vin locked tuner. Raceme has a good tuner for a lot less then H&S. doesnt do as much, but is affordable. Runnning one on my wifes 11..
